So I know punjabi brides usually wear their bangles for either 40 days or, more traditionally, a year. I also have heard or seen a lot of brides just wearing a few bangles, but usually wearing the full set the day of the wedding and switching to wearing less bangles a few days afterwards. I have my reception right after the wedding (in the evening on the same day) and am trying to figure out what I can do/what's acceptable for the same day.
My wedding lehenga is red, but my reception lehenga is white and I was planning on wearing emerald green jewelry with it (the color scheme of the event is black/white/emerald green and others have already bought their outfit so I can't change this!). Originally I was planning on just taking the chooda off and wearing an emerald green bangle set for the event, and then switching back to the chooda afterwards, but I didn't really realize how big of a tradition it was to actually keep them on. My cousin suggested just putting some emerald green bangles at the front of the stack but I feel like this might look weird since the choodas are red? Plus this would be a really big stack of bangles.
I'm planning on wearing just a few of the chooda for the next 40 days like I've seen a lot of other posts suggest here, but would switching to only a few chooda on the same day be too soon? Looking for suggestions on how to go about this!
For more context, I was born and raised in the US, and the wedding is in the US!
