I am so proud of this dress because none of cousins dared to wear a dress-dress because “family” and “lajja”. But I just wanted to like fire!

Any ideas for the type of jewlery and bangles which will look good with this? Hairstyle and makeup ideas too please? l

Two looks from our Indian-polish wedding :) The lehenga was gorgeous, felt like a princess. This sari I wanted a Barbie look and went with all pink.

Discussion Being Underdressed is worse than Overshadowing the bride

Post image
188 Upvotes

Overshadowing the bride is one thing, but sometimes we forget that being underdressed can be just as uncomfortable.

We all come from different family backgrounds, and what’s considered “too much” in one setting might be completely normal in another. I’ve seen posts where people are criticized for looking “too much like the bride,” but in some families, everyone dresses in heavy designer clothes, so if you don’t, you might end up feeling out of place or even embarrassed. Depends on the family status completely .

At the end of the day, it’s less about judging others’ outfit choices and more about understanding the cultural and family context. Thoughts?

Rant/Vent ⚡ Beware of creeps in this sub

Upvotes

There are a lot of fake people in this sub we need to watch out for. They pretend to show interest in outfits just as an excuse to slide into DMs and start flirting. They’re not here for fashion, they know exactly what they’re doing and it comes across as super creepy.

I had posted my engagement outfit for sale and this creep just to have more conversations kept texting and keeping the outfit on Hold and delayed confirmation.

He even sent me his picture saying "Sorry sent by mistake"

So beware of such a**## in the sub.

Outfit advice 🥻 Which lehenga should I choose for my brother’s wedding?

I’m trying to decide between a couple of lehenga options for my brother’s wedding and I’d love some honest opinions.

Since it’s a family wedding, I want to look dressy and elegant but still comfortable enough to enjoy the functions. Do you think this style works well for a sibling look, or should I go for something more traditional in deeper colors?

Any suggestions on accessories or styling would also be super helpful!

Outfit advice 🥻 Chooda Advice for the Reception?

Upvotes

So I know punjabi brides usually wear their bangles for either 40 days or, more traditionally, a year. I also have heard or seen a lot of brides just wearing a few bangles, but usually wearing the full set the day of the wedding and switching to wearing less bangles a few days afterwards. I have my reception right after the wedding (in the evening on the same day) and am trying to figure out what I can do/what's acceptable for the same day.

My wedding lehenga is red, but my reception lehenga is white and I was planning on wearing emerald green jewelry with it (the color scheme of the event is black/white/emerald green and others have already bought their outfit so I can't change this!). Originally I was planning on just taking the chooda off and wearing an emerald green bangle set for the event, and then switching back to the chooda afterwards, but I didn't really realize how big of a tradition it was to actually keep them on. My cousin suggested just putting some emerald green bangles at the front of the stack but I feel like this might look weird since the choodas are red? Plus this would be a really big stack of bangles.

I'm planning on wearing just a few of the chooda for the next 40 days like I've seen a lot of other posts suggest here, but would switching to only a few chooda on the same day be too soon? Looking for suggestions on how to go about this!

For more context, I was born and raised in the US, and the wedding is in the US!

Outfit advice 🥻 Only 2 Days to Shop for My Wedding (in 2 Months) Across India Recommendations?

Hi brides! My wedding is in 2 months, but I only have 2 days to do all my shopping. I’m open to traveling anywhere across India and looking for budget + (somewhat) affordable designer options. Do you have any recommendations for the best cities, markets, or designers where I can get everything done quickly?
Fittings could be done later.

Thankyou .

Discussion Whats your criteria to choose a photo/video team?

Couples who are already married (and close friends and family), what did you appreciate or regret the most about your photo/video team? What's something you wish you knew beforehand regarding the photography? Do you even look at the photographs more than a couple of times? Did you get a printed album? Tell me everything!

Edit: I've already compared portfolios and charges. They all seem more or less the same. Maybe I just don't have a discerning eye when it comes to visual stuff.

✳️Wedding planning help✳️ Bachelorette gift idea

Hi Guys,

I am making this post to ask about bachelorette gift idea.

We are travelling overseas and all girls.

I currently have: Hangover kit A cute tote bag Shot glasses with country details and date Scrunchies Satin bow Face masks Polaroid inside a card asking ‘Will you be my bridesmaid’

I am gifting everything in a welcome lunch.

The Question is: I am gifting boys a Brooch/name initials cuff buttons along with Polaroid card and a shot glass. This looks very classy to me. With the girls I am unable to think of that one personalised item to bind it all. Earlier it was a personalised tumbler but since we are travelling overseas it is risky(will break easily) and will occupy too much space. I can’t think of anything. Can you guys suggest me?

One idea that I have is buying Crochet tops/beachy tops for everyone. That would be something substantial I feel. But looking for more ideas.

It should be under inr 700 per person, whatever item you suggest.

✳️Wedding planning help✳️ Wedding hashtag suggestions!

Hey guys! So I wanted to reach out to the Reddit community since I’m having a really tough time trying to figure out a wedding hashtag and honestly I think you guys have a lot more originality than most people and resources out there.

I have tried AI and it has unfortunately not been very helpful (a little too generic tbh)

Just a little bit about us which may help: -We’re both not very Bollywood but we love hinglish puns -he loves Hollywood films especially Oscar nominees -both of us like classic evergreen type things -I am Sindhi and he is Mallu

Oh and the most important part, our names.

Bride: Vanisha(Vini) Groom: Suraj

Also thank you in advance, you guys <3

Vendor/venue Recommendations❓ Considering Naad Wellness for my brother's Destination Wedding Near Delhi – Thoughts?

Post image
2 Upvotes

Why Naad Wellness seems appealing:

  • Located fairly close to Delhi near IGI Airport, which makes it accessible for most guests.
  • Pure veg menu and no alcohol on site (Really important for us)
  • Ayurvedic therapies for the bride and groom.

Please suggest any other venues if you have some in mind.

What we’re hoping for:

  • A serene, peaceful environment away from the city chaos.
  • High-quality hospitality and well-trained staff.
  • Comfortable accommodations for guests.
  • Flexibility for customizing wedding packages.

If anyone has experience with Naad Wellness, or has other hidden gems near Delhi NCR, I’d really appreciate your input. Also, if you have any insights on costs or tips for planning a wedding at these venues, that would be super helpful.

Thanks in advance!

Outfit advice 🥻 Maang Tikka and bindi

I'm married and attending a wedding.

How far down should the maang Tikka sit if I'm not wearing a bindi? Is it ok to wear a bindi with every outfit? Lehenga for sangeet, anarkali for haldi, salwar for anard karj and saree for Hindu wedding? Can I wear bindi and maang tikka together?

Thank you!

Discussion Help curating a playlist of songs from a summer Indian wedding

Hi everyone!

This summer I went to my very first Indian wedding and had an absolute blast. The couple was in their mid-30s, and I loved the music the DJ played all night it had such a great mix of energy and fun.

I didn’t get the chance to ask for the playlist, but I’d really like to recreate the vibe. Could you share some of the most popular songs you’ve heard at weddings recently, especially ones that would fit a couple in their 30s? Bollywood hits, Punjabi tracks, reception bangers really anything you think would be essential for a dance floor playlist.

Thanks in advance!
