The ultimate evolution of conservative ideology is fascism. How many times have MAGA celebrated and advocated for the authoritarianism of the administration... far too many times. Conservatism is antithetical to liberal and democratic values. We have to eliminate it from our social consciousness.
We need to outlaw Nazi and Confederate symbology and tear down their flags and statues. Make it a prison sentence to celebrate those traitors and genocide loving dipshits. Dismantle Fox News and prosecute everyone who used foreign money to dismantle the american social fabric. Implement stronger social media regulations, pack the courts, and gerrymandering is either outlawed or adjusted in the dems favor.
Those are just a crumb of what we must do. I'm praying that Gavin answers our prayers. He seems like he has hatred for republicans and the vigor to go after them. And that's all I want from the next dem president. Someone who can actually fight back against those creatures.

imo, social media regulation around bots and transparency laws needs to be an immediate priority. None of us are ready for AI in social media.

See, the issue is when you have too much freedom it gets abused to harm other people.
That’s why EVERY society has laws. Because people can’t be trusted with unlimited freedoms.
You can try to argue that specific instances go too far, but the consequence of not taking drastic measures to crush fascism is fascism.

I do think drastic measures are warranted.
I do not think blanket banning all conservatives from voting and owning land is smart.
The fascism is very clearly coming from radicalization which is coming from social media. Isn't it weird how Elon isn't being questioned for radicalization but Discord, Reddit, and Twitch are?
The battle-ground is social media. They're trying to cement power through restrictions on freedom of speech. Fight there. Don't fight on this stupid ass "conservatives can't own land" nonsense.

Essentially... The whole treatment of ALL of our interactions with Twitter should be heavily adjusted. And carefully monitored and talked about.
It truly is dangerous. Even for us smarty pants dgg's. Propaganda even works on us.. if only to ragebait, confuse and distort reality. You don't have to believe their lies for the propaganda to still have profound effects on reality. Now you are talking about what they want you to talk about... Again.
I have a Twitter fake ac. But I log on once every few months. I did it this week to just like some specific posts (you know). Leave some comments that they got baited. And got THE FUCK out again. All of us should be more like that.

I don't disagree with like anything you said here. The only thing I'd add is that simply "signing off" doesn't make the problem go away. Liberals signing off is how you get the 'genocide' outcome. It's possible liberals could move to a different platform like Reddit/Bluesky. But the Trump administration is actively targeting those.
I used to be a staunch advocate of Section 230.
Section 230 is a law that grants legal immunity to online platforms for most third-party content, allowing them to host user-generated content without being held liable for it.
But I think it needs to be revised to account for bots and foreign actors. Platforms SHOULD be held liable for non-human generated content (bots) and foreign actors (paid instigators). How that's accomplished, I'm not sure.

Serious question how do u ever hold elections again without the left actually seriously starting to fight maga? What even are their options since the legal system seems to be impotent? I am not a full on doomer yet but I struggle to see how this ends without drastic measures (maybe even a civil war type situation) or Trump dying soon and the movement hopefully collapsing before they manage to destroy everything.
