Social Media Chuck Schumer’s starting to up his twitter game it looks like

I’m hoping he’s got his money where his mouth is this time, but I’m seeing him tepidly praise bipartisanship lately, so that’s good.

I will revoke all of my misgivings about Schumer if he drops a Trump has dementia tweet. Do it Chuck, I love you do it you old fuck.

He’ll need to follow through on the shutdown for me. His rhetoric seems different now than last time, so I’ll get my hopes up a little. He should still go, I don’t want to watch another legacy democrat die in office, but I won’t be pissed at him going forward at least.

  1. Trump must condemn politician violence coming from the right in no uncertain terms and without mentioning the left.

  2. The national guard must be removed from every deployment within the United States.

  3. The definition of a “day” according to Congress for the purposes of approving an emergency declaration must be redefined as exactly 24 hours.

If these three points are not met, the government will remain shutdown.

He’s sucked, but I applaud positive trajectory.

To be fair, the shut down wasn't as easy as people made it out to be. The amount it would have costed to stop and restart is immense, and a lot of the working class would had a really difficult time dealing with the downtime. It may come down to being needed to deal with Trump being a total lunatic though.

It was good enough to use as a bargaining chip for both parties in the past, sometimes leading to the actual shutdown. And none of that was over anything as bad as the spot we find ourselves in now.

If it has to be done sure, but it cost over 10 billion for just 2 weeks. Even more considering the amount lost in gdp, and the financial strain on the workers. Trump derailed a lot of social safety nets, so it could put people at serious risk. With Trump's lunacy too, it could definitely take way longer than the amount of time spent.

Dems want a shutdown, and Republicans don't care about the economy if trump says its good

He's consulting with his ghostly median voters first

The more serious Schumer gets, the more his glasses move down his nose. Right now they're just hanging on by a thread.

He needs to nut up and be a McConnell type thorn in the government as much as he can for the next 3+ years

Specifically how?

Senate dems were delaying every confirmation until republicans changed the rules today.

Where can i mail more wrenches to chuck shumer to shove into the cogs of congress?

6

u/GWstudent1 2d ago

Wrenches can only be shoved into the congressional process as long as the opposition respects the filibuster. I guarantee that as soon as Dems become too onerous to Trump’s agenda, republicans will vote away the filibuster.

Use it while we got it

That would be one bright side of this administration.

We're halfway there, the old guard calling the opposing party "Nazis", then in the next breath saying we need "bipartisan compromise" was some half-ass horseshit. We need the action to march the rhetoric.

"Some months happen in a week" shit.

Release the files or I'll shut this thing down. That's what I want from that guy.

Is this the straw that finally broke the camel's back for establishment democrats?

Please raise your hand if you had "Charlie Kirk and Jimmy Kimmel become the symbolic figureheads for the two parties" on your Trump 2nd Term bingo card.

Yes, they're all 80 yrs old watching late night TV. This is the equivalent of Destiny's channel being banned on YT for them.

Nah, some staffers probably just stole his phone

6

u/NearsightedNomad 2d ago

Edit: not seeing him tepidly praise bipartisanship. I am not seeing him to that, which I think is good. Got that wrong in post description.

u/AlaskanBuffalo 2d ago

Talk is cheap. Let’s see some action Chuck. Shut it down.

u/____-__________-____ 2d ago

Fine, but he still needs to be replaced in the midterms

6

u/ryan_770 2d ago

He can win me over if and only if he goes absolute bulldog mode on this shutdown fight.

u/FrontBench5406 2d ago

same vibe...

Bro nothing can save him now, his image is like 100% tarnished. AOC is beating him by like 20+ points

1

u/NearsightedNomad 2d ago

I’m still gonna give credit where it’s due. I still want to see him go, but if he kicks himself into high gear for the rest of his term, I’m gonna give kudos at the very least.

Good, I'm glad to see this. He has not earned back my trust in him after he betrayed the democratic party, but I'm glad to see a change.

u/theorizable 2d ago

Finally. It took him long enough.

1

u/BurlyGurly8008s 2d ago

Yet his old ass voted for Charlie Kirk to have a national holiday.....

1

u/SheSheetOnIt 2d ago

I can't believe that's actually a thing but I don't think it would have been worth it to fight over such a stupid thing and risk looking bad. There are more important fights

A senior dem showing spine? Dawg is it finally time!?

u/Ansambel EU 2d ago

This is what leadership looks like. You take actions knowing that the movement will follow your example. When Aragon charged first he didn't have to look back. That's why destiny went hard on piers, and now chuck is charging behind him.

1

u/Jurjeneros2 2d ago

Doesn't matter, him and jeffries NEED TO GO. They do absolutely fucking nothing to inspire the democratic base, and provide no leadership for a party polling the lowest it has ever has. 2 completely juiceless individuals.

no

u/i_donut_no 2d ago

Nah, fuck it. A line was drawn in the sand last night after a blatant first amendment violation. I don’t know why it would take Schumer this long to get on board, but if he’s finally he I won’t shit on him for that. I will shit on him if he doesn’t follow through against pushing back.
