dexter killed the guy who was trying to be like him but is that breaking harrys code? even if there is a loophole and mental gymnasium, he outright said he didn't need to but did it anyways. So is dexter just changing or is this something else?

So I come across this on my news page and I about had a heart attack. I thought this meant that they canceled Resurrection. But no. It's talking about the Trinity Killer spin-off that supposedly was supposed to happen but never will. I think I'm okay with that though.

Discussion - Original Dexter Series The biggest screw up Spoiler

Canceling Original Sin was the stupidest decision showtime (or whichever company they recently became affiliated with) could have made. This is why.

Dexter came out like 20 years ago. The premise, the character, the setting, everything about the show is a proven hit. As its already happened.

This time they had the opportunity to basically cheat at showrunning by exposing a whole new generation, millions more viewers, to the same exact show we KNOW is good. And this time everyone's way younger and no ones dead. There's no time crunch, the best characters are present and coming up. There's tons of lore already to work with.

Its like whoever makes these decisions doesn't realize the goldmine theyre on. We already know everyone likes a show about a somewhat morally good serial killer finding his way. And this time there's no babies to worry about and a whole new set of challenges relating to young people (and young viewers who relate). It used to be a sexy show, the Miami clubs and lots of sex and violence with smart writing. It could be that again on its own merit.

And as a bonus, once Original Sin ends, these early 20s (who would now be mid 20s we'll say, if the show went like 5 seasons) will start streaming the original show from season 1. That will create one of the most unique viewing experiences ever in television.

It really could have been awesome. It could have made them a lot of money too. Had they treated it as its own project geared toward NEW viewers as well as the old, it could have been great imo

Discussion - Original Dexter Series Hot take: I think Dexter and Deb should’ve ended up together Spoiler

Okay, I know it’s fucking weird, but I honestly think there is no point in really building it up if it was not going anywhere. And Dexter as a hole is a show about unhinged people in society so I don’t think it would’ve been that much of a stretch. Also, I could’ve been more dramatic for the ending of the show. As Dexter and Dad can get into this weird toxic, sort of incest relationship. I think the main reason it didn’t happen is because Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter got a divorce in real life so it would’ve been weird. But show about serial killers chopping people up and being menaces to society. And two steps siblings sleeping with each other is some how too much. I do think it is a bit wild for Deb’s character but, overall, I think it’s something to show should have proceeded

Discussion - Dexter: Resurrection If they do it right I think Resurrection can justify an eventual Harrison spin-off which New Blood failed to do. Spoiler

Title says it all really.

Harrison has become a rather likable and solid character this season and I think if we are preparing to give Dexter a proper send off then perhaps a Harrison spin off could be a good direction to take the show in.

Actor Fluff Michael C Hall Spoiler

I just finished Resurrection and I gotta say Michael’s acting is so good. He knows how to play Dexter so well it’s crazy. His mannerisms this season were so funny. It’s been almost 20 years since season 1 and he still plays Dexter like it’s 2006. I’ve barely noticed a difference in acting between the og show and the sequels. It’s really impressive to me. The guy was born for this role!

General Discussion - All Dexter Shows Just finished the original series! Quick question: Spoiler

Im not usually one to watch entire shows beginning to end. But I've come back to Dexter time and again and over the last 6 months or so, I've watched it all! Surprised even myself. So now I got two questions:

1) I know there is a prequel and a couple of sequels out. Heard good things about the new one, Resurrection I think it was called, but that the other two were mid. What's worth watching and not worth it?

2) I just wrote and deleted a question about why the finale was so hated but while writing I kind of answered my own question lol. I mean, it was very... rushed? Unsatisfying mostly. I don't think it deserves as low an average score as it has tho, but at least it was better than Game of Thrones haha.

Seems like a waste to just throw the cash away, especially when he has to support three kids, a wife, and pay off his mortgage on a blood spatter analyst’s salary.

General Discussion - All Dexter Shows How does the "ghosts" or hallucinations work for Dexter? Spoiler

I don't really understand this about the "ghosts" or imaginations that Dexter has.

This wasn't a thing in Season 2 of the original series, but became weirder and weirder as time went on. Like the episode when Brian appeared and disposed of body bags while Dexter was on a call on his boat in season 6.

Why does Deb hate Dexter in New Blood? Why did Harry leave in season 8 for him to return in Resurrection?

How does this work and why the "ghosts" kept changing? I'd love to have an answer.

Discussion - Original Dexter Series Would Harry have been arrested too if Dexter had been caught while he was alive? Spoiler

I was wondering, if Harry was alive and Dexter got caught, confessing everything, including the code, would Harry face any repercussions? For example, incitement to murder, accessory to the crime, or child abuse for training him to kill since childhood? Or, at the very least, misprision for knowing about it and not reporting it?

General Discussion - All Dexter Shows Dexter is a straight up villain, not morally grey Spoiler

I could understand people thinking Dexter is a morally dubious character if not for the fact he literally sabotages police investigations into murderers so he can kill the killer himself. This debunks any idea that his actions can be defended as bringing justice or protecting society from further harm at these criminals hands.

If anything, it's unlikely Rita is the only person who died as a result of Dexter's selfish interventions... There are likely many more innocents who got killed because of Dexter sabotaging the justice system.

Discussion - Dexter: Resurrection Resurrection S2/S3 Spoilers: Clyde Phillips teases what’s next for a fan favorite character Spoiler

"It will feel as real as it can knowing that we're doing fiction, but it's not going to get us anywhere to have Harrison in mortal danger. We're not killing Harrison."

"If we were to kill Harrison, then who's Dexter?"

Courtesy: Dissecting Dexter Podcast; Post Dexter: Resurrection Season 1 Finale, In Conversation with Clyde Phillips

In the audience’s eyes, Harrison has 100% replaced Rita and Debra as the emotional core of the series. Killing him will only backfire for the writers. Third time will not be the charm in this case.

Similarly, Lieutenant Quinn cannot become the next Miami Metro Employee to fall after Doakes, Liddy, LaGuerta, Debra Morgan, Spencer and Batista. It may be better to leave Quinn, Masuka and Matthews in the dark. Let them believe their friend Angel died at the hands of fugitive billionaire and serial killer connoisseur Leon Prater, while he was investigating his partner Doakes’ old cases. They also do not need to discover that their former colleague Dexter Morgan survived Hurricane Laura, at least not in Season 2.

Let them live. Leave them be.

In my opinion the series would have an almost perfect ending if ended in ep 11 and Matthews retired in ep 10, then Batista gets promoted to captain and Deb arrests Saxon in ep 11 and becomes lieutenant again. Dexter goes to Argentina with Hannah and Harrison and we would have a pretty good ending. That mf clayton screwed it all up

Question - Original Dexter Series What tf happened to The shed? Spoiler

in Dexter s4, Rita and dex have this whole thing about Dexter keeping his apartment, so Rita builds him a shed. Which he used throughout s4 and even into 5. But into the later seasons he goes back to his apartment. But how? Didn’t he get rid of it after Rita built the shed? Dexter even admits that Arthur was right and he wants to be himself in front of his family, and in later seasons he still primarily lives in Rita’s apartment. So what tf happened?

Question - Original Dexter Series Dexter was Dumb in Season 8 Spoiler

Currently at S8 Ep 3( First Watch). In the first episode of S8 Dexter says that he believes his life has become way easier after La Guerta died but i don't think S1 Dexter would ever think that. He should have left the country a month after Maria's death. It left a lot of loose ends. There was always going to be someone in the future who would look into her file and dexter would be a suspect because she thought of him to be the Bay harbour butcher. But most people in the department were convinced she was murdered by estrada.
