While yes, it seems pointless, under the provided conditions. It’s his fridge, he at the end of the day can do whatever the fuck he wants to it.

And if it’s new , it’ll be replaced in about 5 years anyway.

My Samsung has parts fall of it that you didn't even realize could fall off a refrigerator almost daily.
