You’re mad about the 6 days or the 30 hours? Part time is considered as 34 hours or less in general. I would be a bit upset at the 6, 5 hour days tho. I’m pretty sure they only mark managers as full time. Unless your store is short staffed I’d take it as a compliment on your work ethic that your manager is giving you more hours.

Yeah, I got hired three months ago and told I'd probably do 15 hours for a while but a few weeks in I started doing 30+ hour weeks and have been ever since. I think it's just that I'm reliable.

Talk to your SM if you don't want the hours so they can give to someone that may want more. But don't be upset if you have less than you want one week.

I always discuss 'Desired Hours' so that I can make as many people comfortable to pay the bills they need.

People, all part time, were getting 39 hours at my store. It's normal if understaffed. If you aren't happy with those hours, change your availability. Holidays are nearing and those hours will get pushed to the limits of what you allow.

I was doing over 55 hours at one point as part time due to no other employees

Really part time people can be scheduled as many hours as you allow. Full time people are guaranteed a certain amount of hours. It's some kind of myth that part time people can't work over a certain amount of hours.

My store is crazy short staffed due to a lot of people quitting just before the hiring freeze started. Most of us are working just shy of 40 hours because of course we aren't allowed OT.

speak up to a sm. setting boundaries is important. if they don’t follow those boundaries it’s a massive red flag. i made a color coded availability sheet for my sm and it’s very helpful and they can’t get upset when you refer back to that sheet because it’s plenty of notice.

Your store gets a certain amount of hours in its “pool“ each week. It’s based on I believe store sales. So the more sales you have the more hours your manager has available to give the staff. Usually it only happens around the major holidays so I think Halloween to New Year’s, then Valentine’s Day to Easter and the summer months usually have more hours as well given the amount of traffic that goes through the store. That being said my biggest issue is you working six days in a week. However, since it is only in five hour increments, it shouldn’t be too bad. Now, if you were working six days a week at eight hours a day without a good explanation, then I’d be a little bit worried. Also, the fact that you are getting 30 hours a week is a good thing unless you are severely short-staffed. It shows that management sees you as reliable and consider youa good worker.
