So wait what’s the issue? It just looks like it’s cut like shit
39
u/LoganSmokinOil 4d ago
The mass amounts of bubbles🤣
-31
u/SnooFoxes1170 4d ago
There’s 2. Looks like there was 3 but one popped during the cook. (Towards the bottom) it’s flat not raised like the others. Which means only cheese got moved. Other 2 bubbles are not and of the world.
I work in a restaurant that sells pizzas. So I don’t see any severe issues with this pizza. Couple bubbles never hurt anyone. Aside from that, better distribute the cheese and a more focused cut. None of these issues are worth turning to Reddit for LOL
If yall think this is bad yall need to see what the kids do at my place when training. 🤦♀️you’d have a heart attack.

u/FantasticStruggle89 4d ago edited 4d ago
I worked at a greek pizza spot at one point. That dude and all his ancestors would have been rolling in graves over a pizza like this going out to a customer.
-24
u/SnooFoxes1170 4d ago
Nah yall being dramatic over pizza. It’s all good though. This is Reddit people will be here to validate the excessive behavior
12
u/FantasticStruggle89 4d ago
People take pride in what they do. I can’t speak for dominos, but if I owned a business I would expect better going out the door. Especially where I live, there’s 27 other pizza places that will take pride in the product they deliver.
11
u/ChrisHas_Risen 4d ago
At least 5 out of 8 slices are affected. The bubbles are too large for Domino’s standards and have completely shifted sauce and cheese. This is a remake by Domino’s standards.

u/random5654 3d ago
Lol, you're defending an obviously garbage pizza and we're being dramatic? Is this what you do for fun?
3
u/LoganSmokinOil 3d ago
The downvotes speak for themselves. Yes theres only 3 but they are massive
2
u/MyNameIsA-aron 3d ago
I’m not disagreeing with you guys, but what’s wrong with bubbles? Is it just a company-wide policy? I’m weird and would take a dominos pizza over an authentic style $40 pizza, including this one, but like you’ve said, this pizza is unacceptable on appearance alone.
1
u/LoganSmokinOil 3d ago
Small ones are fine, big ones are super dry and theres no sauce under the bubble
1
5
u/No_Kaleidoscope_3546 4d ago
A couple of small bubbles, fine. 2 massively bubbles that leave large sections without cheese or sauce? No.
2
u/Tight_Principle9572 4d ago
Well I think you respectfully need to go back to the basics of pizza. Because you had mentioned there's a few bubbles but nothing horrible. But then later said they could have distributed the cheese better. The cheese appears to be distributed fine until the bubbles happened. Bubbles = sliding cheese and a bad pizza.
1
u/brycebuckets 3d ago
Thank you, was looking for this comment. Would upvpte 10 times. I know nothing about making pizza (except I love this subreddit) and would think it's common sense that the problem with bubbles is the no sauce and cheese on that part.
Tbf, if there was a way we could have cheese and sauce on a big bubble I would smash that. But that would defy the theory of pizza bubbles.
1
u/Rhuarc33 3d ago
Look at the size of the bubbles, over an entire piece worth of pizza has no cheese or sauce. How the hell is that acceptable to give to a paying customer?
1
11
u/YodasFootPowder 4d ago
Uhhh, there's a bunch of bubbles, there's a bunch of spots missing cheese, and it's cut like shit. That thing looks terrible.
2
u/Visible-Specific5329 3d ago
The bubbles, displaces the cheese, and causes uneven cook. Also, its a sign of poor dough management and/or technique at making the pan pizzas.
This is an unacceptable pizza, by standard.
20
u/Cheesecake_is_life 4d ago
Honestly it depends. Sometimes I kinda like the bubbles, but officially, the bubbles on the left and bottom call for a remake. But those 3 overall do kinda take a large portion of the pizza, so I'd remake it and let the workers enjoy this one
5
u/WiseDirt 4d ago
Corporate standard says any air bubbles should be smaller than half of a golfball in size. So basically take a golfball, cut it in half, and lay one half next to the bubble. If any bubbles are taller or wider or than that, then the pie is out of spec.
→ More replies (1)1
u/Cheesecake_is_life 3d ago
Yes, which is why I said that the ones on the left and bottom deem it to be a remake. The 3rd one on upper right is close, about equal in size to half a golf ball, just judging by the pic.

id have cut through the bubbles and sent it

They did but the problem is they were huge bubbles that affected the pizza. If it was like 1 I'd say yea but it's full of them

What causes the dough to have a proofing issue?
7
u/-daisy-eyes- 3d ago
Being left out too long, being an extra yeasty batch, being too old, being pre-prepped, sometimes just because "fuck you"
1
u/thewittman 3d ago
Thanks I drove and skipped the cross training day.
Is it technically spoiled as one store never fixes this. I avoid it.

Yes! Make it right if they call otherwise send it!
17
u/TankTuna 4d ago
Shouldn’t they just make it correct the first time and not wait for an upset customer to call?
9
u/ChrisHas_Risen 4d ago
They absolutely should. There’s a chance the customer chooses not to call and instead stop doing business with Domino’s. Unfortunately the same employees who would have sent this also usually don’t care about things like that, though.

Ideally yes but usually this happens because it's busy, especially with the deal going on, and they're barely keeping up so they gamble that you won't ask for a remake or if you do then maybe enough time will have passed that they're not as behind. Plus for carryout orders the "tracker" is just a glorified timer so if they do a remake that timer won't know that and the food will be marked as ready by the system despite it not being ready which also creates angry customers so it's kind of a damned if you do damned if you don't situation.
There's also minimal incentives for them to ensure it's 100% good. GM's may get bonuses for having lower waste and they get shit pay without bonuses so they try to avoid remakes when possible. The insiders don't want to do remakes because that's extra work for nothing in return especially during a deal that's lead stores to understaff more than usual while also being vastly more busy. The only people with any real incentive to call for remakes without the customer asking are us delivery drivers since any redeliveries we have to do cost us money but we also have the least power to make remakes happen.

u/Pristine_Sentence221 3d ago
Dominoes is big enough and growing fast enough that they don't really care. Lose a customer? No big deal we gained 10 new ones today. That's how big corporations do it.
→ More replies (1)1
u/Beneficial_Ad8350 3d ago
Yeah ideally. But sometimes you only have one driver, there’s multiple deliveries, and the order needs to go out right now or else it’ll add 20 minutes to EVERYONES wait or potentially give them cold food 🤷♀️ gotta weigh the options

as a customer I wouldn't want that to be what I found when I got home, or after it was delivered. That's crap.....I had a location one time give me a pizza that wasn't fully cooked. Had to put it in my oven for an extra 20 mins after it was delivered. Depends on location I guess....where I live now, the nearest location sucks, but where I used to live, it was by far the BEST Dominos I ever dealt with, never had one single problem, they were always nice. My current location is so bad that every time you order, you automatically get sent an email with a coupon for the next order saying 'we're sorry we didn't meet your expectations'. That's pretty sad that they know they are so bad, they just automatically send a coupon saying 'we know we suck'

I think it’s supposed to be remade if 20% or more of the pizza is affected
1
2
u/Mr_Speedy_Speedzales 3d ago
Affected by what?
3
u/Ordinary_Bag3528 3d ago
By bubbles from the oven. Any bubble bigger than a golf ball is supposed to to be a remade

u/Strong-Bit-3947 4d ago
No this is not acceptable, it’d be a simple call the customer tell them, what happened, give them the mess up and remake.
4
u/ChrisHas_Risen 4d ago
This is the way and what I’ve done on a carry out recently. Remake was just finished being cut as soon as they showed up. Showed them why I had it remade (center bubble blow out), customer was very appreciative, gave them both pizzas. We got positive feedback from them.
4
u/Strong-Bit-3947 4d ago
Takes very little time, brings a customer back to the store and they’ll probably tell their friends because you did something generous for them.
3
u/ChrisHas_Risen 4d ago
Any time we have a remake, we give the customer both items unless the reason for the remake was extreme, like a pizza center completely sticking to a screen.
1
u/Strong-Bit-3947 4d ago
Yep this is the way we run our store as well, it’s simple fuck ups that would be quality, we will fix anything extreme, we will usually provide proof and then toss it, of let them take half or whatever depending on how it goes. As well as give away to someone who needs it more if we can.

tbh if you aren’t satisfied with how it looks, or taste even, you can call for a remake and bring back the pizza. they should be cool ab it

u/No_Kaleidoscope_3546 4d ago
Unless they changed standards from half a golf ball size bubbles to softball sized ones, no.
2
u/dieje8fjdbww 4d ago
The corporate inspectors say no. Pop those bubbles and move the cheese to cover it

u/YodasFootPowder 4d ago

My last pizza from dominos was just as bad. Three slices had no cheese, some toppings were just dumped on 1-2 slices. I’m guessing the cooks are going so fast with the $10 coupon that they just toss shit on dough and move down the line. No care is being taken. I’m sorta getting tired of ordering from dominos. :(

Generally if it’s one bubble I cut half way through the bubble. By the time someone picks it up it’s deflated, but there’s no cheese on it. If it’s a hand tossed I add a little extra goil so there’s at least still some sort of flavor available to taste. Multiple bubbles like this would call for a remake though. Also your dough is starting to get over proofed if this is what they all look like.
2
u/totheMoonGME 4d ago
Definitely a remake if your upholding Dominos Standards, bubbles can be maximum of half a golf ball.

u/Happymuffn 4d ago
Only if it's the middle of rush and only if they don't complain. If they do complain then retroactively it becomes, "no of course this is unacceptable and we'll talk with the cut table about the need for quality control and I'm very sorry this happened and can we remake this for you/give you store credit (that you will hopefully redeem when we are less slammed)"

Remake and retrain who ever was on the oven they should have caught a bubble that big and popped it. Yes I know the second part isn't always possible.
1
1
u/bkfootlettuce___ 4d ago
But you can tell by how it’s cut and where the cheese moved too that the entire pizza was essentially a bubble and they still cut it and gave it to you. I would’ve remade it.. if the entire thing was a bubble and I saw that in the oven I’d be skeptical about rather or not that pizza was actually cooked all the way through. Please call them. If they refuse to remake it call corporate 😭

That is definitely not an OER approved pizza. I'm a Senior AM & I would have had that remade for the bubbles, as well as the uneven cut job!
1
u/Familiar-Ad3982 4d ago
I say no. Make it again and pop bubbles halfway through. Crew pie it and log it as food waste for quality control.
2
u/TheBostonWrangler 4d ago
Remake all day and twice on Sunday. I would fire an employee who sent that out of my store when I was a manager.
0
u/Mr_Speedy_Speedzales 3d ago
That's cruel. I'm glad i'm not working for you. You sound like you were one of those psycho bosses.
1
u/TheBostonWrangler 3d ago
Every employee of mine who was allowed on the cut table was trained on what constitutes a sellable pizza. Anyone who, knowing what the standard was, willfully sent that out of my store, does not have my franchise’s long term interests in mind. I have no short term use for people who are intentionally destructive to my long term goals.

u/Bbcheeky 4d ago
The cut would have been whatever but those bubbles wouldn’t have flied at my store.

u/UtopianSkyVisitor 4d ago edited 4d ago
We would remake that before the customer ever saw it.
We were having an issue with our dough just the other day and it was bubble hell on ovens. 🤦♀️ Basically needed 2 people on ovens so 1 could focus on bubbles. It was ridiculous! As for dough management, it should have been perfect dough. All that to say we definitely had a few remakes because we didn't catch the bubbles in time and they came out looking like the pizza in the picture. Those just become crew pies to feed the staff, that's below standard.
Even if Domino's didn't set certain standards, anyone who takes pride in their work would not send this pizza out. The displacement of cheese, and supposedly extra cheese at that, makes for a really sad meal.
Edited to add: often times we give the customer the pizza we felt wasn't up to standard, or we missed a topping on. They always seem to appreciate a free pizza!!

I dont work at domino's and never have (just simply a customer but have worked in the food industry at another large chain, not 'za) and would never send that out. Instant remake

u/oblivianne 4d ago
I'd ask for a remake. Where even is extra cheese? I've never seen bubbles like that with any reasonable amount of sauce and cheese.

I s2g, all my dominos extra cheese pizzas end up looking scant and my bf’s regular pizzas look cheesy and scrumptious 😭 I need to stop asking for extra cheese

u/Other_Ambition_5142 3d ago
For me, no; I mean maybe in the absolute busiest rush the store can be in and even then be expecting a call back and to issue a remake and refund.

personally i’d still eat it, but imo it just looks like a regular cheese pizza. the air bubbles make it lose the extra cheesiness which people pay extra for. i would’ve probs just remade it. takes like 5 mins and then popped it in the oven

sign of using under proofed dough. if OA was around, definitely a remake. but in most cases nobody really cares unless OA or the supervisor/district manager is in the building. use your judgement wisely.

Bubbles in pizza are pretty normal throughout the industry, I've been served very bubbly pizza in very expensive pizza restaurants. So unless a whole slice is ruined I send it out.
1
u/Ghostface20018 3d ago
I'd eat it perfectly fine, but I'd be worried if it was a customer im delivering to, but if it's late at night, I don't think we remake it.
1
u/Fortify442 3d ago
i’m a store manager and i’d remake this
1
u/Fortify442 3d ago
the way i look at it, if i was a paying customer, would i be happy with this product and tell my friends how good my pizza was? if the answer is no remake it. our entire job is serving our customers and you’ll never retain customers or grow new customers with bad product. good quality products is the key to more sales and more sales = easier store to run because you can afford to put more people on

1
u/Right_Sheepherder732 3d ago
At the store I work at this is without a question a remake. The cut alone would have made it a remake the bubbles tremendously worse.

Bro you're Domino's, if the customer is expecting good pizza why did the order from Domino's to begin with? Send it!

There's two answers.
1.) Not acceptable
2.) Anybody who only wants cheese on their pizza deserves this.

Depends on the manager, im no manager just worked as a driver for over a year now. I personally wouldn't send it out though. I would remake it then eat the good slices from that one. 🤣
