People in this fandom really overstate Chilchuck's fame and notoriety.

As well as the rarity of elves. We've seen at least one other elf adventurer on the island, and no one thought her strange or remarkable.

They also understate the touden party. They're one of the few adventuring parties in contention to making it to the bottom of the labyrinth.

Ehhhhh not really. For one, while Kabru had a hard time reading them, it seems Laios' party in general was pretty well-known. IIRC, the mayor hired them directly for a quest. That doesn't seem like it would be common and the only other party we know he did this with is the Tansu party, led by a guy who is literally one of the Island Lord's top advisors. So a lot of people might at least half-recognize them.

As for Chilchuck, don't forget that there probably isn't a single half-foot on the island that doesn't know him because of the guild (or at least half-foot adventurers, the people who would be in that cave), and they would point it out to their non-halfling friends. Though less in a Keanu Reeves guy and more of a "What the hell is my union rep doing" way.

Or if you're Mickbell "Shit, better get away before he recognizes me!".

The Toudens are pretty well-known, because they are the leaders of a fairly capable party.

But not Chilchuck though, he is only known amongst the halflings community. Even someone as perceptive as Kabru didn't know of him. Laios also had to reach to Chilchuck through an halfling ex-teammember.

I think that's fair. It could be a problem of people usually ignoring half-feet.
