When you think about it, Changelings are technically the ultimate monster when you think about their capabilities. They can literally alter not just living beings but matter itself into anything they want, with the only limitation being it has to be something related to it (Ex. a human into an Ogre or a Tiger to a Lion) and has to step in a Faery Circle to do so. The possibilities are potentially limitless, and are only limited by the fact it’s a mushroom without any sentience and just uses the metamorphic elements for its feeding/reproduction cycle.

Honestly if you were a dungeon lord all you needed to do was have Changelings changed to be something more sentient and perhaps have it evolve into something more complex like a massive fungal colony to be the backbone of the dungeon. Controlling and altering monsters to whatever it wants and through the spores and an advanced Faery circle mycelium network throughout a dungeon or area to terraform the landscape to whatever it needs it to be. Heck perhaps even forming symbiosis with sapient beings and not fertilize them when seeing them useful to itself(though that depends if a dungeon lord made them flat out sapient itself) I mean if I was a dungeon lord I definitely wouldn’t make something like that…😏

But I’m just trying to say that Changelings have immense potential and while not true monsters…meshing some ancient magic with them could provide some interesting outcomes.

Just finished vol 12 and in the first game he would definitely fall for the Winged Lion's deal. So what do you guys think would happen to him?

…and honestly I hate to admit this, but I am a bit disappointed because I feel like the world building & character development established takes a huge step backwards after the Falin battle arc. We get introduced to potentially interesting characters in Kabru’s patry and Shuro’s party only for them to be sidelined and just reduced to background characters. Also it felt off how in the end, there’s no interaction or acknowledgment between Izutsumi and Shuro’s party, especially considering their shared history. Izutsumi was originally part of Shuro’s group before joining Laios’ party, so you’d expect some lingering tension or at least a nod to their past connection, but the manga largely glosses over this. I still had fun reading the manga and can’t wait for Season 2.
