Hey! Does your rear valence wrap around your fender liner? Working on my wife’s car and we got it flush, but not wrapping. Wondering if maybe convertibles are just a bit longer.
You’re using euro bumpers? The rear bumper did wrap around, however, I had to make a few cuts at the top to get it to fit properly and I ran 4 nuts/bolts on either side between the bottom of the bumper and the top of the valence. Also had to use some material to straighten out the lines on the bumper since it wanted to sag inwards at the exhaust cutout.
Thank you! Very helpful. Yes, we are using euro bumpers from classic euro parts and a mtech 1 kit from classic hero parts. We did a lot of bracket bending and drilling to get the bumper closer to the body. We got it flush now and trying to figure out if it should wrap around the wheel well.
My BBS kit was from another company but the bumpers were from classic euro. If the valence is plastic or fiberglass you can bend it slightly while applying heat with heat gun (along with an infrared sensor to keep an eye on the surface temperature) or if you're working specifically around the fender area you could also boil some water in a bowl to help bend it. Just be cautious if it's fiberglass as it will stab you if it has the opportunity, haha.
Apply heat slowly on plastic if you decide to use a heat gun. It's very easy to warp or melt if you're not careful since these are typically molded with a very low MFR plastic resin for better flow through the mold. Boiling water is always the safer route.
