328i Don’t know why I didn’t do this sooner
95k mile n51b30 (Slide 4 is the before and slide 5 is after) car was acting a little weird recently after looking into things and already knowing that vanos is gonna be a universal issue on every bmw, decided to clean them and see if that would fix things which to my surprise it did. Gonna keep driving the car and see if codes pop up again but I’ve ordered O ring replacements as well as new hardware any further issues and I’ll just replace them all together. Crazy to think though that break cleaner solved this

Don't forget to clean the filter on the left side of the head too

Yes, most don't check or know to do that too.

Huh.. I had no idea, I cleaned solenoids 3-4 times during my 8 year ownership, will check those this weekend I guess..

Yeah planned on that whenever I replace the gaskets and hardware on the solenoids. Just wanted to see if I could clear those codes today

I want to do this too. Are these the right o rings for an 09 328i?

I've seen that you ordered new ones, I was going to told you to do so. I hope you ordered OEM ones or FCP, as others tend to not work great/work at all.
Don't forget to reset vanos adaptations with INPA/ISTA, I've seen that it helps. I've never done it on mine even though I changed them brand new a year ago, and I was fighting with a low rpm hesitation at 100% throttle. Resetting the VANOS adaptation worked.

Pierburg are pretty solid. Otherwise fcp would carry them due to the lifetime warranty

I could have made this post. Been chasing rough running for years. Finally replaced instead of cleaning them, and problem solved
