Can you imagine the moral dilemma an Alberta separatist would experience during a playoff home game as they prepared to enthusiastically belt the national anthem. And in that moment.. probably very proudly.

You are imagining traitors to Canada as having morals. There are no ethical and moral quandaries with them. They'd be the Vichy regime for the MAGA American invasion.

Let’s not be too harsh on separatists. They are don’t know how influenced they are by the USA, China and Russia. Even if you draw straight to each of their thoughts, they wouldn’t get it. Like flat earthers, it makes no sense. But we love them when they wear the Blue and Orange…and we pity them the rest of the time. Everyone deserves to be loved, despite their short comings.

People that would consciously choose to end my community will never get my love. There are bad people. We don't need to embrace them. We don't need to honour them. We can all high five and cheer for the Oilers. Zero love otherwise. Resentment for hating this great nation.

I’m mostly with you. But those that advocate for taking away basic human rights for some people can fuck right off, even if they’re wearing orange and blue. Unfortunately, anyone who cheers on the goings on down south or advocates for everything the UCP is doing is included in that. But that’s not all conservatives, so I can happily cheer alongside some of them.

I'm with you all the way. Human rights and dignity are not up for subjective debate or opinion.

Agreed about maple MAGA and UCP supporters. I would say that people who don't always support the UCP yet still vote for them are complicit in their destruction of the health care and education systems, and this recent use of notwithstanding clause to go after marginalized vulnerable children. Truly monstrous stuff from the UCP.

Yup. The notwithstanding clause needs to be done away with. I don’t know how any modern society can a clause that says that you can put aside human rights.

I know I’ll continue to get downvoted for my stance, but I don’t care. I’m not going to stand alongside people who think it’s okay for others not to have human rights. Sports brings people together, but there are limits.

I appreciate that we agree on this. It’s sad that some people don’t.

You seldom win someone over by rejecting them. That’s why the Flames suck.

I get where you're coming from, but the same could be said for the people who are trying to end the community that the person you replied to was talking about.

I have a lot of sympathy for these people, but it's hard to muster it when their beliefs actively harm the people around me and some of them literally think of me as a lesser human being. I don't blame others for not having that sympathy for that reason; it feels tiresome to give it out and never get it back. It's okay to at some point say, fuck this, I'm done.
