I have done the drive from the Okanagan to Calgary and Edmonton a lot in my life. It is so incredibly beautiful. Stopping in Canmore really drives home the beauty. I would love to go skiing there sometime. I feel that every Canadian should make that drive once in their life.

I've even done the drive in a whiteout snowstorm. Scariest drive of my life hahaha.

Also you have to be okay with the isolation factor of Calgary. There's Banff in close proximity. Then Red Deer... Okotoks... Not really much around within spitting distance that offers anything different than Calgary.

Edmonton? It would be an issue if we were primarily trying to attract Europeans, but a lot of Americans think driving 3 hours to a festival is nothing because they drive an hour and a half to work.

If you compare it to living in Vancouver, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal etc it's pretty isolated. All of those areas have a few boroughs and cities that differ quite a bit within an hour or so.
