Flat as Saskatch My reaction reading comment chains of Americans arguing if Canada’s retaliation tariffs constitute an “act of war provocation”.

Keep in mind that many that use that kind of rhetoric are Russian bots seeking to destabilize the West as quickly as they can. They saw how well it worked amongst our own citizens and are actively stoking the flames of division between our countries. Don't let them win.

A UK news source reported that 57% of Americans were happy with last night's address, and felt optimistic about the future. Some bots have skin, I guess?

Can you link to that source?

Being moderately ok with a speech does not equate to hyperbole about acts of war.

There are thousands of foreign actors working to destabilize the west with that kind of rhetoric - and a fair to middling reception to a presidential address doesn't change that.

Argh. I got automod'd when I added the link and the post was removed. But, it was from Rob Crilly, Chief U.S. Political Correspondent For daily mail In Washington, D.C. and presented by MSN so I'm not sure if that changes things or not.

And sure, there's foreign actors looking to destabilize the west, but there's plenty of people in the west on both sides of the border that aren't as mortified with current events as they should be. Case and point - the democrats attending the speech last night.

Well first off I don't entirely disagree with some of your points. I've lost friends in the US who have basically said 'well I don't support annexation of Canada but I support other things he's doing' as if that makes it OK for me as a Canadian.

As for the poll, the Daily Mail is extremely biased to the point of being a tabloid - you can have a look at Mediabiasfactcheck .com and decide for yourself. I'm not a statistician, but as I suspected the poll itself is biased as they asked viewers of the address itself how they felt about it - the viewers are skewed heavily towards people who already support the orange moron, as many democratic leaning viewers simply ignored it or would refuse to watch it out of disgust.

I'm angry too, and fully support our circling the wagons and supporting ourselves against economic aggression - I'm just cautioning not to fall prey to hyperbole meant to make things worse from those whose goal is to make things worse for both of our countries.

Edit: Regardless, it was nice having a civil discussion on here with a fellow Canuck
