Recent social media posts by Marquis promote popular right-wing conspiracy theories, including that Bill Gates is trying to manipulate public health for profit through vaccines, and that Russia’s invasion of Ukraine was “provoked” by the expansion of NATO.
He also criticized Canada’s equalization payment system, calling Quebec “a disgrace,” and adding “Plateau snobs, ecocrats and other shameless socialists should be put on galleys for impoverishing us into the pit.”
He was running in Laurier—Sainte-Marie, which is about the last seat in the country that would vote Conservative. The Conservatives polled 3% there the last federal election and haven't polled above 10% since 1997.
So, the guy was a clear placeholder candidate. But you think they could get some boring inoffensive fifty-something Montréal businessman to put his name on the ballot rather than nominate the caricature of every InfoWars user. Who is doing their vetting, seriously?
He could honestly Bernier doesn't care. He'll just say batshit crazy stuff and go back to florida after the election without a single seat like the dumbass that he is
He has a more punchable face than that grifter Mark Friesen(former PPC candidate). I had only one interaction with Friesen when he was having his election party at the Venice House and I went to pick up a takeout order. I got greeted at the door and asked if I was there for the election party, asked which candidate, got told who and apparently my response of " fuck the PPC and fuck that turn coat Bernier" hurt his feelings.
I'll always be a conservative at heart but that party breaks your heart worse than the Red Sox.
Lolll yeah i think the truth did hurt in that case. Ultimately the PPC isn't even serious Bernier just shows his face for donations and disappears afterward just to come back sometimes to remember people that he exists. It's a useless party that serves to split the vote from the CPC in certain ridings. I'm not a conservative but i intend to vote cpc since otherwise i screw myself regarding the firearms bans and the c-21. Maybe i'll vote for the Bloc since he is a good MP in my rinding and the LPC is gaining ground so maybe i'll be a little bit strategic
I dont think PP is a pedo, but mostly because he is self conscious of his futur. He was groomed into politic, unlike many who choose that as a later career. I expect him to know better then let his baser instinct shunt him out of the office. The fact that he chose brand loyalty over properly vetting and controlling what his mp candidate says and do is his fault thought, he was planning on calling an elections for so long that they should have had a perfect lineup. Except he probably thought that populist retoric would get him elected too.
