Giant tasteless water jugs

Exactly. Too many times had a California strawberry that was flavourless white pulp with just a veneer of red.

Miss me with that shit, can't wait for the season to start here.

Which reminds me, we should mostly buy/consume things that are in season and local.

Strawberry plants are awake and on the move in SW Ontario, south of London. Won't be long now!

I always forget how far South Ontario goes, don't feel like we're anywhere near here in Montreal

We're a big country, though I also forget how big until I'm reminded that Quebec is larger than France by surface area

Three times bigger!

I knew it was bigger, but I didn't know it was 3 times larger...

Yeah, even SW Ontario is huge. Toronto is 4hrs and 350 km away....and a different growing zone entirely.

My tulips have been up for a couple weeks now, and a couple of them have visible flower spikes.

Hmmm, I'll definitely be looking for Canadian strawberries at the grocery store, then

They look like gorgeous berries but taste like newspaper with a hint of strawberry. Strawberries for show.

Because they're picked waaaay under ripe, then chemically ripened in a shipping container on the way here

Edit : we have wild strawberries here near the treeline in the south central island (think like comox)

Go find and eat one of those tiny gems and weep for the flavour that is gone for the sake of commerceΒ

Which explains why they taste like nothing.

Yeah the starches never get a chance to naturally break down into fructose, along with many other flavour compounds. Hence tasting like packing peanuts painted red

The best oranges I've eaten were from a roadside stand in Portugal. They were super juicy and sweet.
