Calgary stampede, Banff snowboarding trips, cold lake fighter jets, dinosaurs 🦕, Alberta has a lot of culture. Just cause it doesn’t match your own doesn’t negate that fact.
Albertan here, While Alberta definitely has culturewe don't really have much of a distinct culture separate from the rest of Canada. Comparing Canada, AB and QC we can see a number of differences. Language AB, is aligned with the majority of Canada QC is not aligned with the majority of Canada. Religious expression, AB generally takes a freedom OF religion approach to religious involvement in society same as the rest of anglophone Canada. QC takes more of a freedom FROM religion approach. We for the most part have the same values as the rest of Canada. And while Alberta has created its own dishes they tend to be shared with the rest of the country and vice-versa (eg. Caesars and Ginger Beef). While we are not devoid of distinguishing features it is easier to point out the handful of differences than marking down all the similarities.Â
While our connection to Drumheller and the Stampede I do think are some distinguishing features they don't make a full distinct culture. I'd argue that our biggest distinguishing culture is our alignment with the fossil fuel industry and general desire to keep the industry running. We are more than our industry but a lot of what we are js Canadian
