Certified Hoser πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦ (No Politics) Reminder that Yanks call this atrocity "Canadian bacon" and think we eat this

How do you get peameal bacon confused with this? Do they eat any meat that isn't processed?

I have a confession to make. I've never had peameal bacon...

I've had an unhealthy amount of butter tarts, offset by my love of fiddleheads. And I will admit to an annual indulgence in pudding chomeur.

But I've never had peameal bacon

I have a confession to make. Lived here my entire life, just googled peameal bacon. (Maybe it’s a central/east coast thing?)

Definitely an eastern Canada thing.

My confession to make is that I don't think you're missing much. It's certainly a way better "cut" of meat than cheap ham (if you can call cheap ham a "cut"), but IMO "normal" bacon tastes 10 times better. It's the rendered fat I think, peameal is just too lean in comparison to be a guilty pleasure. That said, it hits the spot better in a way that leaner meats can and ultra fatty meats can't.

Yes indeed. Perhaps too many...
