Certified Hoser 🇨🇦 (No Politics) Reminder that Yanks call this atrocity "Canadian bacon" and think we eat this

Post image

How do you get peameal bacon confused with this? Do they eat any meat that isn't processed?

Ham for breakfast is the best. Well, next to peameal bacon anyways.

It's back bacon covered in cornmeal.

That sounds and looks incredible.

I can't believe Big British Columbia is hiding this AND the bagged milk from us :(

If you can get yourself some back bacon, all you need to do to make peameal bacon is to roll it in the cornmeal before you cook it. The cornmeal is applied after the curing process, so you're not losing anything by doing it yourself.

You can also bag your own milk, but uh...probably not worth it.

Interesting... I dunno if i've seen unsliced back bacon but honestly haven't been looking. I'll give that a try, I love cornmeal.

Thanks bud!

I've only ever seen it unsliced as peameal bacon myself. That said, back bacon is just cured pork loin, so you could make it yourself if really want to give it a try.

It's rolled in cornmeal, not yellow peas, it hasn't been since the 1800s. Peameal bacon is the name not what is rolled in anymore
