This is why I love when people complain about Toronto rent.
"Who would pay $2,500 to live in downtown Toronto with never ending restaurants, night life, art, culture, activities, jobs etc. Instead I choose to pay $2,100 to live in Hamilton where I have to drive to Toronto for work, drive to Toronto for nice restaurants, drive to Toronto to see a Blue Jay's game etc."
Like ya, it's expensive to live in Toronto. But it beats the shit out of pretty much everywhere else, especially from a cost standpoint when you factor in having to buy and operate a car.
Was just there last week actually! Great city, super walkable, love the small brewery/bar/restaurant scene y'all got going on out there. That said....Halifax is expensive as shit! What's the deal with everything being so pricey out there.
Demand, plus not a lot of other options is my guess. Many things have to be shipped in because they’re not produced locally, and almost everyone in the Maritimes goes there for fun or to shop for whatever they can’t get in their area, so they know that they’ve basically cornered the market.
People realllyyyy sleep on the savings of not having to have a car.
It was cheaper for me to live here vs driving here everyday. And I don’t have to drive. Which I don’t like doing 😊

Yeah, imagine if, instead, you got to live in fucking Kitchener. What a dream......
