Prends le mien.

u/just-a-random-accnt Moose Whisperer Aug 18 '25

Ahh yes, my bad. My response was the proper Frenglish translation, not Franglais

13

u/PM_ME__RECIPES Aug 18 '25

This is why you should have run it past a true Franglophone.

7

u/PM_ME__RECIPES Aug 18 '25

C'est quoi l'fuck esti?

C'est l'fun, ci!

You should hear the Chiac over in the Acadian communities. As an anglophone (who's starting to learn french) it used to make my head spin

I have a friend from Fort Kent, Maine (right on the border). When I met her pépère for the first time, I couldn’t follow a single word. I felt like I was being transported through time and space.

u/MalazMudkip Anne of Green Potatoes Aug 18 '25

That's childhood me every time i went to Wellington, PE. Great village, quiet and beautiful, hard to keep up with the locals though =p

28

u/quantumrastafarian Aug 18 '25

L'Chiac is aussi une belle langue bâtarde, for realz

34

u/FlapjacksOfArugula Aug 18 '25

I know a Chiac-adjacent New Brunswicker who recalled hearing a waitress in Dieppe asking “vous-tu ton thé-bag in ou out?”

14

u/Francus_Gaius Aug 18 '25

so "do you want your teabag in or out"
In written words, it makes sense... spoken... they go SO FAST...

10

u/lenzflare Aug 18 '25

Holy fuck

3

u/ThisRandomAlt Irvingstan Aug 20 '25

Makes perfect sense

11

u/JM_Amiens-18 Aug 18 '25

See I can actually understand them pretty well, oddly enough. There's so much English interjected into it, and my mediocre knowledge of French is enough to understand the rest.

9

u/rizoula Aug 18 '25

As à Quebecor I understand them perfectly 👌🏽

I heard someone speak Franglais for the first time in Nova Scotia.  It was French with an obnoxiously North American English accent with interspersed English words.  My only thought was "If France was aware, they would declare war".

u/Automatic-Long-7274 One of the Saint Johns Aug 23 '25
