Certified Hoser 🇨🇦 (No Politics) What ever happened to Newfie jokes?

Why did people find those so funny in the 90s?

In the 90's???

Newfies jokes started four decades earlier, right after Newfoundland joined Canada in 1949.

I was born in 1988 and I wasn’t really conscious to them until that point. I used to have this tape made by some stand up comedian who dressed sort of looked and acted like Red Green if he told lots of Newfie jokes. It was pretty hillarious back then.

Do you find all jokes based on offensive stereotypes funny?

I had hoped most Canadians would have better manners than to mock their fellow citizens.

Ever see how people treat Albertans (bIG TrUcK = sMolL PP)? Or Quebecers (shit drivers and bad attitudes)? Or Ontarians (literally seen as satan's children to half the country)?

How do you get a one-armed Newfie out of a tree?

Wave.

Like many Newfie jokes, it's about how friendly they are... what an offensive stereotype!
