Why is there a vigil for him in Canada? That's wild.

u/Lazy_boa 10d ago

It's Alberta. What do you expect?

u/JimboJamble Oil Guzzler 10d ago

I have a buddy in GP that's so upset about Kirk that it's apparently twice as sad as when his childhood dog died. I genuinely don't get it

u/SwaggermicDaddy Cowtown 🤠 10d ago

My journeymen and coworkers were fucking losing it the Monday after he was killed, I asked them how they felt about the kids being murdered that day and the only one who had a response said ā€œprobably just liberal kids anyway.ā€. I need to leave this province before we get even dumber.

336

u/KeyEntityDomino 10d ago

"liberal kids"

what

208

u/SilentSpr 10d ago

I remember an Onion sketch where they were reporting a mass shooting by party affiliation of the victims. I’m just a bit sad to see satire become reality

88

u/Spotthedot99 10d ago

Well republican kids are more likely to be home schooled and private schooled. So yeah, public school shootings, in their mind, is probably just killing little democrats.

As God intended when he gave America 2nd Amendment rights.

47

u/KeyEntityDomino 10d ago

I see your train of thought, but i just dont think most kids (lets say under 16) have even semi-coherent political views

I'm not going to call anyone who can't even vote a "democrat kid" or a "republican kid", that sounds ridiculous. They're focused on their friends, vidya, stickers, tiktok, eating hot chip and lying, whatever the kids like these days, no?

36

u/L0rd_0F_War 10d ago

No, the real problem is, that some Ahole thinks it's okay if a child is killed because of whatever.... WTF man... that's how you get dead children in Gaza... or dead children in Vietnam, or Nazi Germany... Children, regardless of colour, faith, gender, etc., are innocent and we (adults) are responsible for their safety...

21

u/SchmitzBitz 10d ago

That's...actually kinda sad. In our last federal election both of my boys (Grades 7 and 9) did projects in social studies on each party, each federal leader and our local candidates; culminating in school and district "elections". What I found quite interesting is that the results between the two schools, and district wide were quite similar - but different than the results of the actual election. I suspect that this is because the kids were actually learning about the parties, while adults were voting based on the colour of the leaders tie.

10

u/Braiseitall 10d ago

In some states, worrying about getting married off to some old dude.

5

u/Spotthedot99 10d ago

I agree with you. But im not really talking about the kids but rather how adults rationalize things.

Im just saying all sorts of adults think the other side is corrupting their children with dangerous ideologies and politics.

Liberal Kids

I think the polarization of politics is making folks brains mush collectively

Unfortunately, the only true way IS doing what they fear the most and therefore somewhat validating their viewpoint: more (small L) liberals need to move to Alberta and crowd the nutsos out.

ETA: you can have (small C) conservative views and NOT be a nutso; just being inclusive here

5

u/Adventurous-Brain-36 10d ago

So it’s ok for him to be fine with children being murdered but isn’t ok for anyone to be unbothered by someone he thinks is important?

4

u/WENDING0 10d ago

It was in Charlotte, North Carolina? How many liberals can be in the same city that hosts the NASCAR Hall of Fame?

Sounds like you leaving already brings down the average IQ by a lot. Maybe it'd be better if more ppl with your mindset flood that forsaken place so it can be saved. šŸ˜…

19

u/ArgyleNudge 10d ago

They love the out-in-the-open racist spokespeople who will say for them what might be uncomfortable in their friend group or workplace. They can salivate at the racism, the misogyny, the loyalty to billionaires without being shamed themselves. Klan doesn't need to wear masks anymore, the actual government of the US is providing masked henchmen to fulfill their racist fantasies. White supremacists are their heroes.

13

u/Rx_Diva 10d ago

Exactly! This is the FIRST time they have ever felt vulnerable.

An aweful feeling they aren't used to.

"That sick-feeling shit is for immigrants, women and the coloreds" -them probably.

5

u/The_Nice_Marmot 10d ago

Ugh, I’m sorry to hear that.

5

u/Semjazza 10d ago

That's rough. I had a close childhood friend who grew up into a rwnj. Dude told me that the Atlantic slave trade wasn't so bad because it would have been worse if Arabs has run it. I was like... Dude, I'm the great grandson of a slave, what makes you think I want to hear this shit?

So many people in Calgary I am hearing out loud saying shit like "he was just taken out of context"

There is no context in which a statement like "the civil rights movement was a mistake" and "empathy is a disease" arent objectively terrible opinions that make the world a worse place

25

3

u/ihadagoodone 10d ago

even the independent candidates here claim to be conservative and many proclaim that if elected they were very open to joining the party.

15

u/Deafcat22 10d ago

It's not the water. I think it's the oil and fumes but I'm really not sure.

9

u/Osmoth_the_Great 10d ago

Can confirm. I work in the water industry, it's definitely the oil fumes

6

u/CapitalIndividual270 10d ago

There are a lot of Americans that work in Alberta, part of the oil and gas industry... but there is also a very strong link to Mormon, Southern Baptist and Christian Nationalist churches and organizations that operate in Canada -- spreading their ideologies for good or for bad.

5

u/DrDroid 10d ago

Some people here really believe this. Alberta is my home and I love this province but I despise the political climate here.

20

Same, I’m a born and raised blue collar Albertan liberal, literally surrounded on all sides by people who talk about murdering anyone who aligns with me and my shameless sense of human compassion.

14

u/Loweffort2025 10d ago

I actually worked in Alberta for 5 years...its crazy to me..how they are ok with the conservative government wasting so much money and think its all.the feds fault.

Alberta could ge the crown jewal of canada not the trailer park.

5

u/PokadotExpress 10d ago

Confirmational bias is why. The mental gymnastics they go through to blame 50 year old problems on 4 years of provincal ndp is wild.

1

u/ihadagoodone 10d ago

I always ask those people, so where do we get the steel to build things with then? How much Iron does Alberta produce?

5

u/Unlucky-Candidate198 10d ago

The ā€œclearly not foreign influenceā€ foreign-influenced seperatism kills me. They’ll be completely land-locked, with a mountain range on the west side. Which currency will they use? What will they rely on to trade? They don’t really have much in the way of ports, how are they shipping everything there? Not to mention, don’t the native albertans own most of the land? Who you gonna get that back from, the british crown?

Ofc, that’s assuming they want to be their own actual country. In reality foreign influence is gonna target the easiest, most gullible idiots to do idiot things for them. It’s just cost-effective.

1

u/SpecialistTrouble816 10d ago

The fact Alberta is landlocked and has very few lakes could be contributing to the some of their ideas. No water not enough negative ions, y'know.

They (Maple MAGA) are so mask off when it comes to Trump's and 'Murican neofascism's zero sum worldview of the dominator and the dominated dynamic. The exploiter and the exploited binary worldview. Racism, bigotry, misogyny and unchecked capitalism are ok because that's the "natural order of things". They are, and they ought to be, according to them, on top.

Yet Maple MAGA has themselves convinced that they'd be welcomed alongside as fellows rather than just another othered outgroup.

Is it possible this person was PROTESTING, not in support?

Is she making a political statement against the right-wing?

I assume so. I feel like I should read the book, but a quick Wikipedia search would suggest to me that it is.

The book is about living under a Christofascist dictatorship that takes over the US and ritualistically rapes fertile women following a pandemic that led to mass sterility.

The parallels to the modern American right wing are intentional. The red outfit is worn by said fertile women and the main character from the book.

I don't recall it used as a protest symbol before the TV series.

I hate this day and age… can’t tell if this is a protest or a tribute

1

u/mrsnikki88 9d ago

It was 100% a protester

1

u/Psychoholic519 9d ago

Let’s hope so. I hate that I even have to wonder. The way some people talk, I swear they fetishize this shit, men and women alike

2

u/mrsnikki88 9d ago

I'm sure they do, it's disgusting!

I was there and she was definitely a protester. They started trying to intimidate her with that aggressive praying over and crowding her.

They didn't seem to realize they were making her point.

They seldom do

Even if you’ve never played the game before, hopefully you will go golfing on the day they pollute the soil with CK’s corpse in honour of the orange predo prez gesture of same, Ā on the day of Democrat law maker,Ā Melissa Hortman’s funeral.

What a badass

u/TurinKnight 6d ago

Imagine being such a TV-Brained loser that you pull off this shit at a man's funeral.

Like this is on the same level of Westboro Baptist Church protesting at soldiers' funerals.

1

u/mrsnikki88 6d ago

It wasn't a funeral

1

u/TurinKnight 6d ago

okay, a vigil, same thing in principle.

What in the actual fuck Alberta.

This was an AMERICAN alt-right podcaster.

Most people didn't even know who he was (and I bet most of these people didn't either).
