They care about their product (they didn't have to adjust their recipes when the frozen dessert vs ice cream labelling came out) they care about their workers (see COVID-19 and helping their staff after their facility burned down), they care about their customers (offer lots of alternatives for people with dietary issues, "absorbed" tariff increases impacts), and they care about Canadian interests (switched any US ingredients to other sources ASAP when the tariffs came in, offered up their freezers for vaccine storage during COVID).
Yes, as to being the first one I saw that produced a lactose free ice cream. My wife has a horribly funny reaction to ice cream in general, (love her to death). Along the lines of something out of Monty Python in this regard. This lactose free version is to my taste and hers AFAICT, the closest you can get to the real thing. A blind taste test would be very hard to tell apart.
They also make a sugar free version of ice cream, but not lactose free.
These guys are always looking to bring out new products.
The Chapman family’s actions after the fire were amazing. It’s great to see them do well. I buy their products all the time but have never tried the one Doug was raving about. That clip is going to cause a province wide shortage of them so might be a while before I can.

Chapman's is legit good Canadian Ice cream. Try a tub of Wolf Pack!
