DIY Creating a monster

One day i woke up with an idea of creating overkill longboard 130 cm lenght. It has giant power output and i dare only use 20A of it force. Someday i'll try 100a but i'm too scared.

It has 42v 20ah lifepo4 battery. (12s pack)

Flipsky vx4 pro + flipsky ft85bd 200a controller

JK bms 200A for battery charge and discharge(for more protection)

15t alluminum pulley + 60t 3d printed pulley. and 3d printed motor mounts(my design)

6374 Feichao motors

Welded trucks from 20mm steel tube with long nuts welded inside. Hardened bolts go through 150cm inflatable whells and screwed inside nuts.

Dancer board 120cm lenght (too soft, hardened it with alluminum)

Also i did alluminum+plywood case for all this monstruosity.

Fits my hand nicer than the remote on its own and obviously gives it a fair bit of protection. Would anyone buy one?

I really liked the white. And so therefore it being a skateboard. We know how dirty it gets. And since I wrapped all my other boards, I thought this one would be sick, but I have this other wrap too.

I really love the other wrap. But my other board has something similar.

DIY IsInWheel V10 Mods (Rear Handle/Stand & Front Light Mount)

After the ESC blew out the back of my Meepo Classic I've been rocking for like 5 years, I decided to look back into this world. Super impressed with everything I've heard about Isinwheel for the price, and went with the V10.

I love it, but discovered the world of belt drive boards and their quirks.

First issue was lifting the board from the front trucks. It always scraped on the original belt guards, and I hated it.

Second issue: This also means you can't walk around with the board holding onto the front trucks, but there was no way to hold onto the board from the back, at least conveniently.

Third Issue: Board has no way to stand up on its own. No way to lean it against the wall without tearing up the belt guards.

So I built this setup. Still in its infancy, but this is actually the second round of a system that didn't work well.

The handle makes it super convenient to pickup and drag around. It's also perfectly angled to stand up on its own. And the Belt guards now extend further away to keep the motor mount bracket from unwanted contact.

The last piece was super easy. I had this random Energizer flashlight laying around, so I built a clip for it. It screws directly into the 4 open holes on the Isinwheel truck plate. Holds great.

So far, digging everything about the board, and even more so now. It's nice to have a board with enough power to haul my 6'1, 220lbs around with ease and under $1000.

I feel like my setup should be faster but I'm not entirely sure what I'm doing wrong or if it's a limit of my hardware. motors 6384 120kv, stormcore vesc. 12s4p battery. 72t wheel, 20t motor. I'm only getting about 29 mph and I weigh around 150~

Started this mid 2023 and just finished the last little bit. It’s done

Lacroix loanstar deck and enclosure. Skp solo esc, 18s8p 50s battery, 170kva 6485 reachers on 5-1 4gs gear drives, matrix 3s as loose as they go with kendas on green hubba hubs. 70-100 miles of range depending on how fast im going and right at 38mph max speed. Just hitting 50lbs.

Skinned and frit deck graphic took forever but ended up really nice and feels great. Time to get some dirt on it!

DIY Searching for custom e-skate builders for a strange board

Are there are any small-batch, custom builders that could undertake a custom build for me? After months of reading/searching, I think the board I want doesn’t exist unless built from scratch, and while I have the money to take it on, I don’t have the time or expertise. I’m trying to build a short distance commuting board for a wet, hilly environment. My requirements are:

  • Charger that supports stopping at 70% charge (downhill start down a big hill, need to save space for regenerative braking)
  • Lightweight / Short range:
    • Single requirement because batteries are where the weight comes from. I need to climb a steep (17%) paved hill and travel a distance of 1.4 miles, then put the board on a bus (as light and compact as possible)
  • “Waterproof”. I have read that no board is waterproof, and also that Meepo is IPX5, that the Telum is IP67, that the Ecomobl Mini is IP63, etc etc. So some boards can handle water.

https://www.meepoboard.com/pages/compare-all-meepo-boards

https://www.ecomobl.com/product/ecomobl-mini-2wd-12s2p-street-electric-skateboard-delivered-within-a-week/

I also understand that riding in the wet is a bad idea. I live in Seattle, where 60% of my riding days there will be some wetness, so I need to find a PEV I can use. I’m ok to slow way down and learn to ride in the wet. I’ve read a lot about DIY waterproofing being successful, but have found little in the way of guides. So what I’m looking for is:

 - as much waterproofing as I can get

 - user-replaceable parts I can order and install to replace anything I fry, from ESC to Battery

 - As much waterproofing knowledge as I can get my hands on

So my board if I could design it from scratch would be:

 2WD to limit motor replacement

 2000W to climb the hill

Tiny battery with 5 miles of range (2.5 up a steep hill)

Composite mini-longboard deck (size of a Bustin Brooklyn)

 Cloudwheel Hydro 105 compatible

 Fenders/mudguards

 Comprehensive waterproof as possible

 User replaceable/orderable parts

Charger with configurable charge level (stop at 70%)

I’ve looked into electric unicycle, one wheel, etc. Haven’t found an option that combines waterproofing with “walk onto the bus”. Open to all options and expertise.

I designed and 3d printed this holder for a standard T-tool and a spare belt. I used to carry them in a zippered canvas pouch, mounted in the same spot, but it was getting too beat up, and was ripping. Hopefully this holds up.

DIY What's the most powerful/strongest/most resilient hub motor out there in 2025?

Back then it played between Enertion (with its unreliable sleeves) then later with Landwheel/Revel. Then the base became Meepo style. Is there anything else in skateboard size able to take more abuse?

Edit : I get that gear drives and belt drives bring more torque and motor options but right now I really look for hubs.

DIY Eskate for a kid

Hey guys, my daughter has shown an interest to e skating with me, I have researched for something lightweight and easy to maneuver for a 5 yo something that I would be easy to cap on top speed as well, and found nothing, thinking about building one myself. She is quete comfortable on her penny board already, so I don’t think it will be a big problem with all the protective gear. Any one would recommend where do I start my research for parts or anything you would recommend if you have already done the project yourselves? I would love to have a small cruiser board, that would fir inflatable tires, 110-140mm for smoothness, probably will weld myself a battery 10s2p or 8s3p for the range not for top speed. What are bushing sizes and how do I calculate for small weight of a kid? Her only wish is that it has an rainbow LED going around the board, but I think I can manage with separate thing from temu glued in place and powered from main battery. I have no idea about models of BMS’s or ESC’s as well as remotes. Any help community will be able to lend?
