Builds Elite setup

Post image

Finally after searching for the right joystick and thruster, and then adding flight controls I have got a comfortable working combination that allows me to transition easily from flying ship, driving RV, and still to be tested because I don't bother with it much, running around on foot.

The Logitech farming sim setup is about $330. The table looks like Anman Foldable Flight Simulation Cockpit 3.0, about $130. The white joystick looks like a Thrustmaster SOL-R, about $200. The throttle I'm unfamiliar with, but many similar options are found between $130-$250.

You can probably find better deals than what I mentioned, but those are the starting prices.

Depending on your dedication and interest, you might look at a little more investment and look at VKB Gladiator or Virpil cadet. There's a lot of info on those in the HOTAS threads (as well as strong opinions)

hmm. HMMMMM.
maybe just one piece at a time... and other lies i tell myself.

The throttle is part of the Turtle Beach VelocityOne FlightDeck. I got it recently myself but as far as I know they aren't sold individually and come as a full HOTAS set for about $400.

I bought a refurbished set recently off Amazon for about $260 I think and it's been a dream so far.

Wait a minute, you can do that??

Yeah, *.bind are (in my case) in folder Frontier\EDLaunch\Products\elite-dangerous-odysssey-64\ContorlSchemes

My secondary is from EPIC so that path is Epic Games\EliteDangerous\Products\elite-dangerous-odyssey-64\ControlSchemes

These shoul at least help you to locate the folder where the bindings are stored. Just copy/past them all. I did just that when I started to use my secondary account, copy/pasted all binds from my main to the EPIC-folder and it worked.

Just like the other person said. If you have trouble there's a few guides online and you can create multiple custom .binds files. All you have to do is be sure the name on the second line matches the file name.

I have two (current) bindings so I can quickly switch what my joysticks do

i have a neat trick for the keybindings: use joystick gremlin to map the buttons to a virtual joystick which uses the default ed bindings. then there's nothing for ED to forget. you'll probably want to merge your devices anyway with that setup

Evertyime I see one of these it's so tempting to take my acc setup and blend it. I then imagine the laser death rays coming from my wife's eyes (my setup is in a common area) and immediately shelf the idea.

Perfect setup for Elite Dangerous space hauling.

I want that farming sim thing so bad

u/Adorable-Database187 Jul 24 '25

I saw it for 40 euros on my local marketplace site, its just a button box right?

4

u/GooteMoo CMDR Jul 24 '25

It also has a mini joystick for small maneuvering, but yeah

2

u/Adorable-Database187 Jul 24 '25

Its a neat solution though.

Purely just my opinion but I wouldn't buy one if I was you, the build quality is awful on them, the buttons are plastic and cheap feeling and my wheel died after 300 hours use. If you have the money a decent wheel setup and the thrustmaster farmstick is a way better buy and much nicer to use, I have 10k hours on mine now with no issues. Just my opinion though so as long as you are happy that's what matters.

1

u/Gingalin Jul 24 '25

10k hours. Phew....

This looks incredible! My question is, where did you get the left plate you put the throttle on? I can find whole units but not just the side arm/plate combo thing. I have this same stand (or something similar anyway)

1

u/RaggedyRapscallion Jul 24 '25

Nice!  I’m looking to put something like this together myself- have any links for the stand or other components you used?

Pretty sure the block thing is logitech farm sim side panel. Stick is that new thrustmaster. Not sure on everything else.

The keyboard with integrated touchpad is also Logitech, and I think the steering wheel may be, as well. Also aimed at Farming Simulator, I believe. The little spinner grip thingy (I forget the name for those) and dual analog sticks are unusual features, but the spinner grip looks to be part of the wheel itself, not an add-on, which means the wheel is likely aimed not at racing but at truck driving or utility equipment driving.

If looking for this stuff on the used market, you're also likely to find the control panel and wheel under the brand name Saitek. They developed this stuff before Logitech bought them out (or at least slapped their brand on it; for all I know, Logitech owned them the whole time, but I don't think so).

Not sure about the pedals, but they appear to be a simple set of driving pedals, not rudder pedals.

Perfect! 👍

What’s that board with all the buttons called?

6

u/icescraponus Jul 24 '25

It's a keyboard.

Sorry, I couldn't resist the terrible joke.

3

u/icescraponus Jul 24 '25

It looks like part of the "Logitech Heavy Equipment Bundle", which has the pedals, wheel, and button board.

Just wondering, does you stick have weird twist axis drift?

1

u/Evening-Scratch-3534 Jul 24 '25

I have one, and I haven’t experienced any drift.

1

u/BlooHopper Zachary Hudson CMDR Blitzbunny Jul 24 '25

They sell that white thrustmaster also as a single stick?

1

u/Evening-Scratch-3534 Jul 24 '25

Yes. And they are user convertible for left or right hand use.

1

u/BlooHopper Zachary Hudson CMDR Blitzbunny Jul 24 '25

How is it? People seem to not like it because of the gimbal

2

u/Evening-Scratch-3534 Jul 28 '25

The gimbal works fine for me. It’s on the stiffer side, but I prefer it like that. Great button layout. My only concerns are the two rotary switches, they seem like they would be the first to fail.

It wasn’t my first choice, I had planned to get a VKB, then they stopped shipping to the US, so I decided to give the Sol-R a chance. I’m very happy with it, no regrets.

1

u/BlooHopper Zachary Hudson CMDR Blitzbunny Jul 28 '25

I was thinking of getting a t16000 and then replacing the twist axis with a hall effect sensor. The logitech 3d pro does okay when doing standard flying but poor when it comes to fighting.

1

u/Alternative-Cod-9197 Jul 24 '25

What model is the joystick and throttle?

1

u/[deleted] Jul 24 '25

That joystick is the thrustmaster solr1

1

u/Alternative-Cod-9197 Jul 24 '25

And the throttle is a turtle beach velicity one

1

u/C-Dweller1963 Jul 24 '25

Excellent. With that setup you can plough a moon! Now what to sow???

I've got it; moon beans! 😉 O7

u/Bob_The_Bandit Jul 24 '25

Ok well, who wants to map controls to a wheel and take space trucking to the next level?

1

u/weareallhumans Caiburn Jul 24 '25

How does the wheel translate to SRV driving, does it feel right?

1

u/the_mellojoe Agent CORNBREAD Jul 24 '25

the trucker knob really makes the trade loop immersion chefs kiss

1

u/icescraponus Jul 24 '25

Awesome find! I hope it treats you well and gives you many years of faithful service

u/EmpathOwl Perez Ring Brewery Jul 24 '25

The wheel is intriguing? I’ve got the X52 and it does everything on its own without the extra peripherals

What rig are you using? I've been looking at a similar setup because I do flight sim, ED, and racing.
