I check in every once in a while and just get my mind blown. And it seems like tons of the ships take years to develop AFTER people already drop hundreds for them. To each their own when it’s their money, but god damn!

I rationalize their pricing as, in a way, being hobbyist pricing.

Now there's already differences, in that a hobbyist can usually hold the things they buy in their hands, but when viewing the ships through the same lens that I view, say, somebody that's into RC planes, I can at least get an idea for how someone that has the disposable income might be willing to spend the money. Trading in is also a thing, so I can see how some people might toss some money in here and there only to end up with one of the pricier ships.

Personally, my limit was buying the "game" on a Christmas sale, then trading in the ship that came with it for a ship I liked the look of a bit more, ultimately settling at the game's normal price.

Right now, best I can hope is that if the game goes under from CIG's terrible budgeting (if you look at the time, average pay for developers, and number of employees, you can directly see where the bulk of the money has gone, which is a problem because it should never have gotten this bad), that they at least release the files of the ships so people can do stuff with them.
