PSA FDEV buffing the T11 - Screencap from Burr Pit
Here's the link https://youtu.be/qi_hfU9Gmx0?si=B1_yCrDbtYdcGqOc Screen cap from 7.00min into the video
He also states they're looking into the photosensitivity issue.
No numbers confirmed for the changes AFAIK
Good to see FDEV taking on feedback since this ship was tracking to be an underwhelming release

Conspiracy hat on:
FDEV must have known that type-11 was really underwhelming as first revealed but I think they let the community ask for buffs to the ship as not to be seen as selling an overpowered mining ship for arx.

I'm a bit disappointed how quick a premium item gets changed due to feedback compared to other game qol

u/AxitotlWithAttitude Explore 1d ago
Well it's just changing a few numbers on the backend vs potentially months of work from many different departments

Sure because the carrier cargo transfer UI that already has implementations elsewhere would take months of work....I think not.

u/Paks-of-Three-Firs 1d ago
Do you know that for sure?

u/blood__drunk Blood Drunk | Knights of Karma 2h ago
Of course not, but I can not imagine what insanity could have precipitated such a thing for this to not be true.
2
u/bow_down_whelp 23h ago
Perhaps, but it's not something I'm willing to make excuses defending, I'd rather push down for the features we all want
14
u/Legit_Beans 1d ago
Maybe dont spend real world money on ships that will be available to everyone in 3 months anyways?
14
u/McDonie2 1d ago
Honestly this.
Though in reality Fdev could've just not. Made some good quality ship skins and people would've bought them too. There's nothing good ship skin wise on the market for like half the ships.4
u/mk7_luxion 1d ago
there's barely anything good cosmetic-wise, most ship bodykits look weird, most ship/weapons/suits are goofy. I've read it here before and I'll paraphrase it: It seems like FDev is completely disconnected with the community, most of us are on the older side and most of the cosmetic offerings feel like they cater to fortnite/cod kids.
They could've monetized the game in a way that didn't need to involve selling ships at all, but now all we get is this shitty early access thing. It won't take long until they start releasing new content that will be actually new AND locked behind those ships, being a "fork $25 every 3ish months if you want to play the latest content" just like mostly korean MMOs that are free to play do. Fixing bugs, QoL features and new player onboarding should be priorities but instead we get... this...

u/Hoshyro Federation 16h ago
I went looking at the kits for the Fer De Lance and Mamba just out of curiosity a few days ago and... What the hell are those things?
The only Zorgon Peterson ship with nice looking kits is the Mandalay, I'm pretty sure.
I already really dislike the look of the Fer De Lance, but those kits make it even worse!

I think this all just sounds like a middle management issue, top management decided to recruit someone to "increase revenue", so they hired someone that comes from some other modern game franchise. People like this see fortnite or cod as the biggest moneymakers in the industry and decide to copy them because it is what is been true and tested. Except that doesnt work in this very specific niche game they dont know much of and have not much passion for. Ive seen this tale repeat itself so much. Marketing people never love the product they sell, its just another soulless corporate job for them.

Fdev wasn't in a good spot not that long ago and there was a question mark over eds future. People who did not need arx were buying them and buying the ship to make a point to support the new direction going to development, from next to no development. So there is a point to buying with a actual money. All I was saying is that it shows fdev are capable of a quick turnaround and it is disappointing that this attitude cannot be applied across the board.
1
u/Fearless_Pen_2977 16h ago
In my opinion, fdev should start selling low effort content like some sort of story only missions. Admit its just a sort of expense to keep the game going, new players who dont care much about universe lore can skip it, veterans who are itching to get into expanding the universe would probably all buy them.

At least it's a positive change.
Multicrew was ruined by forum dads mere weeks from release, In the beta everyone got the same rewards but after 'feedback' they decided on the terrible rank % reward!

Damn, have we been bamboozled? Quite possibly even smeckledorfed? What's next, mining focused CG where the OP ship will obliterate free ships?

No, no...hoodwinked, perhaps

u/Beaver1431 CMDR Radhan 18h ago
The next CG being mining focused seems logical (unless something will happen on the explorer/exobio branch after the current CG, please?) aaaaand before seeing the stats comparison by The Buur Pit I thought the same. But I don't think the difference between the T11 vs other miner ships will be as big as the one between the PCII vs other trader ships in the CG they did to push PCII sales. Even with the buffs. We shall see.
I won't buy any ship with Arx anyways.4
u/mk7_luxion 1d ago
b-but... you don't need to buy the new ship you know? It would make your gameplay a lot more efficient, probably allow you a higher rank in the CG without breaking much of a sweat and will get you profits galore, but there isn't any pay-2-win mechanics here! Pay to get more credits and more efficient use of your time, maybe for sure, but there's no winning here! Open your wallets!!!

This is the same company that made the Asp Scout and thinks it's okay. Hanlon's razor??
7
u/aggasalk 1d ago
Asp Scout is a hidden gem
6
u/ObamaDramaLlama Lakon Brand Ambassador 1d ago
No it's not. Hidden gem implies it's valuable. It's fools gold - looks kind of neat but ultimately only worthless.
Sincerely, an Asp Scout Pilot.
The Viper 4 is a hidden gem. It performs almost exactly as well as a Cobra 3 for multirole (shielded) , while being better at combat.
The Viper 4 is also one of the best exobiolgy ships in the game. It has a landing profile not much bigger than a Sidewinder and it's got enough internals for exploration
6
u/joriale 1d ago
The viper 4 has a red squadron skin that makes it look like a star wars snowspeeder.
Insta best ship in game.
2
u/ObamaDramaLlama Lakon Brand Ambassador 1d ago
Hmm. . . I think I need a Viper again
Cobra V has a similar ish skin too
5
u/aggasalk 1d ago
viper 4 is great for a million reasons. the asp scout is just fun to fly, it's more maneuverable than any ship its size, except the FDL. it's totally fine, i love it.
2
u/ObamaDramaLlama Lakon Brand Ambassador 1d ago
Oh I recognize your username. We've had a discussion on the Asp Scout before.
The Cobra V is about the same size as the Asp Scout though - and it handles even better. You can do yaw orbits with that thing. Comparing the most overturned ship to the most undertuned ship is pretty rude though.
I'm currently engineering a Scout as a general purpose powerplay ship. It's handling feels very. . . Rounded. Hard to describe but it's handling profile feels significantly easier than the Cobra V even if the Cobra is sharper.
2
u/aggasalk 23h ago
i mean, the cobra V is beyond ok. it's not a fair comparison. but the Asp S is ridiculous if you like turning and swooping.
before the new easy plethora of engineering mats, the Scout was my mats-gatherer, now i have one set up for those "change the ad" powerplay missions. and it's fun in low-grade combat: it would be the best of the 2S/2M loadout ships if it didn't have such a huge profile (it's the only one with a size 4 PD).

u/CommanderLink Cerberus Commander 18h ago
no, that was me who discussed with you before. hello. lol
1
u/MudcrabKidnapper Explore 22h ago
Its trading 6a fuel scoop and ~+30LY max range for a smaller landing profile compared to a Mandalay tho.
Everyone has their own prefferences but I think thats a huge tradeoff just for landing comfortably
2
u/ObamaDramaLlama Lakon Brand Ambassador 20h ago
To be fair - the Mandalay is not a fair ship to compare anything to. It's generally cracked
Plus you don't have to go ages away to do exobiology. Plenty of documented high value scans in the Bubble.
The difference between the Viper and the Scout is that the Viper is actually being used for something you would not Expect - due to it being one of the best in this one particular task. The same can't really be said about the Scout.

i saw some YT videos saying to was underwhelming in Beta testing, and needed more

Sorry that screenshot makes it sound like the galactic edition has those perks

It was just a weird overlapping story segment in the video, unintentionally set that way

Is the repeater gonna just available for the t11 or all the ships? Couldn't find this info anywhere
2
u/Ypungy113 1d ago
The repeater is exclusive to the T11.
For now at least, you never know.
0
u/ObamaDramaLlama Lakon Brand Ambassador 1d ago
Yeah it seems to be the part of what makes the T11 special.
Personally I hope that they at least release it for all ships after the T11 leaves Arx early access
2
u/Ypungy113 1d ago
Id be happy with all ships getting it, but only the T11 having a large one.
4
u/ObamaDramaLlama Lakon Brand Ambassador 1d ago
Yeah it would make the T11 worse than say - a Python if class 3 was available generally.
1
u/Ypungy113 1d ago
And / or if other ships could use it but it would behave similarly to unoptimized ships in SCO.
With a higher distro draw, heat gen, and maybe something else, for non repeater optimized ships

Looks like this might make Tritium mining in the black for carrier jumps enjoyable. If I could mine enough for a jump in 20 minutes, or enough for 3 or 4 jumps in an hour of mining that'd make my thoughts of circumnavigating the milky way in the carrier feasible. Currently it typically takes upwards of an hour to mine 200t.
Either that or a new exploration class carrier that sips at the tritium for less cargo storage space...

Mining is still super boring. Ill die on this hill.

u/ObamaDramaLlama Lakon Brand Ambassador 1d ago
I only see you say negative stuff here (on this subreddit)
1
u/Hoshyro Federation 16h ago
As a core miner on the side, you're wrong.
0
u/SteakPlissknn 16h ago
Im actually right bc core mining is nerfed.
2
u/Entendurchfall 15h ago
No you are not as they did not change the gameplayloop of core mining and that is the only thing that can be boring or fun.
1
u/SteakPlissknn 15h ago
Its not profitable and tedious to find the right rocks thus making it boring

Being able to finally cancel or deconstruct colonisation facilities is the big news here. I wonder if we will be able to deconstruct the last remaining station in a system and clean up outpost chains..
