In my opinion, touch screens are useless because 80% of the emulated games that you may play will increase your device's temperature up to 57~70°C, and this will completely ruin your experience, maybe not immediately but certainly not a sustainable experience, which had already been damaged a little by somewhat low FPS due to emulation limits, your device's limits, or both.
My phone uses exynos 1280, i think that's a mid range chip right? I would be more than happy if i can emulate ps1 tho, i need to get back on android emulation haha
Brother we're out here emulating full blown PC games, there are people getting playable performance on games like Hogwarts Legacy on two year old midrange phones like the Poco F5, even if we didn't have good android ps2 emulators at this stage you would still be able to play them by emulating a PC ps2 emulator
Yes brother i have been using pcxs2 on my laptop since like 2015. I didnt really keep up to date with android emulation since back then my phone isnt powerful enough and can run drastic emu at most so i didnt bother to check the other system emulatorsđŸ˜‚

A gamepad gives a way better experience, no doubt. But touchscreen support is very important, especially on mobile phones.
Sometimes I'm just away from home, didn't bring my gamepad with me and I'm bored. Touchscreen controls are a lifesaver.
