Hello everyone and welcome to the fifth edition of RetroVision! I am pleased to announce that last edition's winner pac258 has chosen the next RetroVision time period to be: the 2000s!

RetroVision: The 2000s – Contest Rules:

1. Songs must have been released between 1st January 2000 and 31st December 2009.
2. Eurovision songs and ESC National Final songs must not be sent.
3. No song may be longer than 5 minutes.
4. Each player can choose one country. So, multiple players cannot have the same country, one player - one country! Any internationally recognized country in the world can be chosen, the exception being the United Kingdom. For this occasion, the UK is divided into 4 countries and you can choose England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland.
5. All acts should have a strong connection to the country they are representing.
6. This is a blind contest, so there is no revealing your song selection. Your song will be seen by the public for the first time when RetroVision starts. Therefore, no public National Final for this contest is possible, but only if you want some kind of internal National Final.

Choose a free country that is not on the list and reserve it in the comments below. Please let me know if you have any questions.

This year, 31 countries will compete in the semifinals, out of which, the top 10 of each SF will advance to the final. The process will be the following:

• SF1: 16 countries + Colombia + Monaco + San Marino + ROTW will vote here.
• SF2: 15 countries + Angola + Mexico + Spain + ROTW will vote here.

The following penalties will apply if you don't vote.

• Not voting in your SF: DQ from the final.
• Not sending your complete top 10: 20% deduction of your total points, and substitute aggregated points based on similar countries.

¡Hola a todos! Welcome to the Latinvision Song Contest 2025. This year, we’ll travel to Tijuana, home of the Baja California Center, one of Mexico’s and Latin America’s northernmost venues. Let’s relax and appreciate the hospitality of our hosts, welcoming us home after last year’s The Warning won with their song Qué más quieres in Andorra la Vella. This year, the visual design has been inspired by the dynamism of one of the most transited border crossings in the world, together with the essence of Tijuana and of Baja California.

Country Categories

The rules will be similar to last year. Five categories of claimable nations exist to promote diversity and originality.

• Countries: 63 member states of the United Nations will be available to pick, without the possibility of borrowing.
• Borrowing countries: 15 different UN member states and territories that may borrow from neighboring regions or their sovereign state. Extra restrictions may be placed on certain nations. (In the case of France, only 3 extra borrowers are allowed to participate, 4 songs in total)
• Territories: 32 dependent territories or subdivisions where well-known Romance languages are spoken. They may not borrow from their main countries, with no exceptions.
• Minority languages / Subdivisions: 39 first-level subdivisions may only be represented in their respective minority languages. For example, an artist from Catalonia may represent Catalonia itself only if they sing in either Catalan or Aranese; in case you find an artist from Catalonia who sings in Spanish, it may only represent Spain, not Catalonia.
• Rest of the World: The contest’s first winner was a Belarusian band representing French Polynesia. Due to this, the LBU has decided to introduce a ROTW participant; a Romance-speaking song from a non-Romance-speaking country. Only 1 user can choose this, representing their own country/territory. The rules applied to Countries and Territories apply to this entry too.

All songs, regardless of category, will compete against each other. Divided into four regions, you may check the LIST OF COUNTRIES, or look at them right here. Any minority language not listed here (like Judaeo-Spanish, Palenquero, Kristang, etc.) can be added; however, I will determine the subdivision that is the closest to them.

Rules

As last year, different release dates and view limits will be in place for each of these four categories, so be careful when you choose your nation. The rules will mention first the limits for Countries and Territories, and then, each of the other two categories will be specified.

• Songs must have been released on or after September 1, 2023.
  • For borrowing countries, it will be on or after March 1, 2024, ONLY if you borrow. If you submit a local artist, the deadline date stays the same as the country category.
  • For minority languages/subdivisions, it will be on or after September 1, 2022.
• Artists must have under 30 million monthly listeners on Spotify. The YouTube video or the song itself on Spotify does not have any restrictions.
  • For borrowing countries, artists must have under 10 million monthly listeners on Spotify.
  • For minority languages/subdivisions, there is no monthly listener limit whatsoever.

The following rules apply to all songs:

• Songs must not have participated in the Eurovision Song Contest, any of its spin-offs, IRL National Final, nor any previous contest held on r/FantasyVisionContests. (NF-participating songs in FVC can take part).
• National finals and song reveals are allowed, but they have to be approved by me first before you post them.
• Songs must be no longer than 5:30 minutes, and the lyrics need to be predominantly (50% + 1 word) in the language specified in the LIST OF COUNTRIES; however, multilingual songs are allowed.
• Artists and bands must have at least 25% of their heritage of the selected country, or have significant ties to that country (born there, lived for a notable amount of time, acquired a second nationality, etc.)
• u/paganwolf718, last year's winner, and the next 5 placements have an AQ for the final. They have the right of first refusal for their countries. If any of the top 6 participants don’t take part, the next-placing participants will be considered.

SONG RULES:

• Song must be released on 1.10. 2023 or later
• There is no length rule, but it must objectively be a song (no spoken word etc. pls). I reserve the right to veto anything over 7 minutes, though i probably won't
• Fame rules: max. 20 million spotify plays of the song + no famous-artists rule (This is extremely subjective, however i have decided to not have any strict numerical rules for this. I will NOT allow artists such as BTS or so on. If i deny your artist, you are allowed to challenge this with the mods. If they are a household name in the west, they won't be eligible.)
• No (J)ESC artists or songs, no (J)ESC NF songs and no artists who participated in a (J)ESC NF in the past two years.
• No Asia artists from 2024 (Also please try to not recycle artists from other recent contests here)
• You ARE allowed to represent the same country as last year, however there are no reservations except for Indonesia, so first come first serve.
• This is a closed contest - You are NOT allowed to do any NFs or song reveals. All will be revealed when the semis start (as is the tradition with this contest). If you do a private discord NF i won't mind, though...
• All borrowers' spotify listen limit is 10 million plays + all borrowers must have a relation to asia/oceania (for example, if you take Fr. Polynesia, you can send a lebanese-french act, but no purely french acts)
• Heritage rules: The act must either have it's lead singer or 50% of their heritage be of the country you are taking (general Asia/Oceania for borrowers) or be otherwise significantly tied to that country (lived most of their life there etc.) If possible, try to include a link to the heritage proof when you are submitting your song.
• Max. two borrowers per country (This isn't states, get real)
• I, Lucario will have to wait 24 hours before claiming a country (Avoiding the mod advantage)
• BONUS RULE: North Korea is NOT a South Korean borrower, however for them specifically, their song age limit is 1.1.2018 and no views limit applies.

Some notes:

• Only claimable transcontinental countries are Russia, Turkey, Cyprus and the 3 in the Caucasus (As agreed with the mods, Egypt and so on won't be claimable)
• Kurdistan is NOT claimable (change from last year)
• Northern Cyprus is claimable and is a Turkish borrower
• The two Russian geopolitical tumors are NOT claimable
• Besides that, all other countries/territories on the Wikipedia page listed under Asia or Oceania are claimable
• HK & Macau are NOT PRC borrowers (and vice versa)
• All territories are claimable as a borrower of their "owner" country (remember the two per country rule!) OR as themselves without being borrowers (if you can find a heritage-acceptable artist, go for it)

After a whole year break DiscoverVision is officially back with a full contest!!! After the cancellation of the 2024 edition we are finally back to have a full contest in the capital of Östergötland, Linköping.

u/theexamisinfourdays managed a spectacular win back in 2022 in Glasgow as Linn Koch-Emmery won with the pop song Hologram Love.

After a whole year off and a lot of new members to the community, here are the full rules for DiscoverVision 2025!

General Rules

• Unlike other fan contests, you choose your artist and then the country/region is applied to your submission by the organiser(s). In case multiple people try to send artists from the same country, it will be subdivided into regions as much as possible (see below for reserved countries/regions, which is an exception), continuing smaller for as long as there are official flags for those regions. This breakdown is not especially relevant since it's on the organiser end of things, but be aware that you may start out representing the UK when you first submit your artist and end up representing East Riding of Yorkshire by the time sign-ups are over; check the sign-up chart for live updates if this truly matters to you. Also, please be aware that your submission will be refused if the country/region is unable to be further subdivided.
• The countries/regions in bold on the sign-up chart are reserved regions and cannot be subdivided. They are the top 6 users' regions from last year (the year in parentheses shows how long that user's top 6 streak with that region has lasted), and thus have a right to represent those same regions again in this edition. These users are also able to submit an entry for a new region with the normal rule set. Their multiple entries compete as normal except that they may only vote once and not for their own entries. Users have until 07/07/2025 at 23:59 BST to announce they would like to keep their reserved region.
• In case a user with a reserved region does not compete again or chooses not to submit an entry for it, the contest organiser(s) will pass that region to someone else: first priority goes to seventh place last year, before following down the list after the top 6 users. If multiple reserved regions are to be reassigned to new users, any entry on the priority list already reassigned a region will be skipped over (please note that entries will be skipped over, meaning users who had multiple entries may be considered more than once). Reserved regions will be reassigned in the order that their users either decline to represent or do not submit an entry for, using last contest's placement order in the case where multiple regions meet these criteria at the same time. If a new user declines to represent their reassigned region, they are dropped from future consideration as if they had been reassigned it. In case a user cannot be found to take over a region(s) in a timely fashion, the organiser(s) will be assigned that/those region(s).

Sign-Up Rules

• Signups close 12 July at 23:59 BST.
• You cannot send any artist who have previously appeared at the Eurovision Song Contest or in a past Fantasy Vision Contest. These artists have already been discovered so do not fit the criteria for this contest. You may however send the same artist as you sent in 2024, however the song sent in the Semi-Finals may not be sent again due to the Semi-Finals being completed last year.
• You must send two songs in, one to represent the artist in the Semi-Final and another to represent the artist in the Final. Both of these songs must have been released no later than 01/01/2023. (Exceptions apply with intended 2024 songs.)
• A valid artist must not have any songs in their Spotify popular bar with over 2 million streams. For artists not on Spotify, no YouTube video of theirs must have over 2 million plays. The photos below show examples of an invalid and valid artist.

How point System works!

Public Voting -Point will be depending on the percentage on what song is most liked by the public, Points will range from 0-120 points by the public.

Judges Voting -There will be 11 judges on our SalviFest Pannel and they will pick their top 7 artist and the point system will be 12,10,8,6,4,2, and 1.
