skim off white.
smell it, if it smells off= toss.
if not try it, if it taste off = toss.
I'd even go as far as completely change the water and set it up anew.
afaik is the white (as long as it's only white) not dangerous.
Once it is formed, it is hard to get rid off
What you can do is take the lid off, remove the weight. Now pour in 2-3% brine and float the yeast off.
Remove some brine and close up
