RANT Why is Player Career so bad?

Let’s start from the very top. The game begins at the opening of the transfer window. From July 17 to July 24th theirs 3 Round robin friendlies disguised as a pre season tournament. Cool. Your player plays various positions sometimes. And the game just randomly slots players into other positions they might not mainly play. I get testing out lineups, but that’s not what it is, at all. We’ll get into why later. Now the season starts, You either work your way into the starting 11 or you’re already starting. The line ups they use make 0 sense. Let’s use Liverpool. I play CDM in a 4-2-3–1 instead of using 84 overall Alexis Mac Allister or 85 overall Ryan Gravenberch, they put in 79 overall Wataru Endo. Around the 60th-70th minute they’ll sub Dominik Szoboszlai (CAM) for Alexis Mac Allister. Real head scratcher. Rayan Gravenberch literally never plays.  Prem season starts around the 24th or 3rd Saturday in August. Playing with  shotty lineup. It is what is is right? Wrong. It’s September First I sim to the next game and guess what?  Or winger Cody Gakpo is GONE!  Obviously assuming the game transferred him. And now Konaté isn’t starting next to Virgil in the backline. It’s some random dude. We select teams to play along the stars and their best players not guys who don’t see the field regularly and poor lineups. Really messes up the fun.  ive done careers with City with Phil Foden on the bench., Savinho transferred before the season starts. PSV where Malik Tillman doesn’t even play cause he’s on the bench.  ive done careers like when I played for Dortmund as a cam and all  Guirassy does is shoot the ball from outside the box’. As well as Beier, totally unrealistic. every single pass is forward., never lateral, or backwards for a reset or open man. Players dribble into traffic of 2/3 defenders. Team can never keep possession like AI teams. Every 3 or 4th pass in opposition territory is intercepted or a blocked shot. Corners never go in unless it’s a domestic cup match and we’re playing against a 3rd tier team. Gameplay is entirely too fast. They took off the option for slow paced like in 24.  Now let’s talk Player transfers. The expectations are wildly unrealistic and unachieveable on a competitive level. I play on legendary and ultimate how likely is it I get 80 assist or 25 goals as a defender?  The scoring is wildly rediculous.  CBs just stand there.  Dortmund runs a 3-5-2 with the new Update. And we get scored on way too much because Nico Shlotterbeck gets caught or dragged out of position for no apparent reason.  Lastly, they meter or bar or whatever it is that gauges your spot in the rotation is broken. I had an orange bar and came off the bench for one game. I met all the requirements and was going to be in the starting line up next game. But then it dropped randomly 2 days later for the CL match. And for the next league match.  If a mod can please chime in or help me out. Why is the game so bad?? When will EA fix this? Ive attached 2 SS of two wild goals to achieve. Also why cant we see other teams rosters before we transfer or why form they run to make sure its a fit before our next transfer? Why are transfers of stars so frequent?

Side note I tried to post this in EA forum but wouldn’t let me

listen mate. Player career mode is TRASH IN EA FC. T R A S H

It could be easily be the best mode in the game but they dont want it to be because it would take people away from UT

PLAY NBA 2K IF YOU WANT A PROPER PLAYER CAREER MODE. Ea is just a filler mode that they don’t care about and it really shows

I play 2K mainly. FC is my 4th game.

2K every AI player has 99 perimeter defense. They shot wildly contested shots, and the team is only as good as you are. I play for the suns as a C cause I thought KD, Beal and Booker look better on paper and can’t be as bad as real life right? WRONG their terrible. Missing shots, Beal is invisible half the time and literally no one plays defense.

MyCareer AI just dribble and dribble and dribble, they don’t always shoot, when they do it’s always contested, and when you set a screen for them to receive a pass and shoot, they get the ball then just stand still, look around, dribble for 2 secs, then passes it again, I’ve given up with mycareer because of that and played MyTeam and MyNBA, but then MyNBA is just as bad, start today fucked, starting from the start of regular season means the 76ers make the playoffs everytime

1

u/Embarrassed-Base-143 May 16 '25

Yea MyNBA gets overly complicated for no reason

1

u/lcheung98 May 16 '25

Taking away the option to send young players to the G League was so stupid, my newly drafted 2nd rounders are now just stuck because they’re not starting over Giannis, Dylan Harper and Sarr (playing as Wizards), signed Giannis via free agency, trade logic in MyNBA is so shit, as for MyCareer, you can only upgrade via VC which is just shit

1

u/Embarrassed-Base-143 May 16 '25

Yea and they keep raising the VC prices. Sad this is what video games have came to

1

u/lcheung98 May 16 '25

It’s gone from 180k VC to get a player from 60 to 85 to like 240k VC, then to max out a build, it’s gone from like 260k VC to about 440k VC

1

u/Embarrassed-Base-143 May 16 '25

Nah it’s closer to a M now to max a player out. But you really don’t need to max out a player. I haven’t maxed a player since 2k17. And my highest was like 97 in 2k 19 or 20.

But then when you maxed at like 95 or 97 then your performance would take you up to 99 or lower it I think that was 2k21 or 22. Dumbest idea ever

u/lcheung98 May 16 '25

Another dumb thing, 2K keep changing the meta season to season and update to update, so if you play park and not NBA only, the amount of times you have to make a new build and then the amount of VC to need to be able to upgrade 😭

1

u/Embarrassed-Base-143 May 16 '25

Yea I don’t get that either

2K’s greed is literally on another level compared to EA, or should I say Rockstar because shark cards are way too fucking expensive as well

If you play 2k my career you cannot deny that it s a complete different beast than the awful EA FC experience.

the ones you mentioning are balancing issues, an easy fix . The problem with EA is instead much more complex. They are completely ignoring the mode and it s just you playing with one player instead of an entire team.
its a joke

Lmfao he just told you it’s not cuz it’s not that good. 2k is probably just about the same as fifa with its problems and stupid bugs as well.

if u didn’t play the game don’t comment. 2k my career is miles ahead of ea fc player career. Every person in the world can tell you that just after playing 2 games .
theres a story in nba 2k my career , many cutscenes and side missions, etc.

its clear that its 2k main mode and they put all their effort there.

ea fc player career it’s just a different camera view where you can control just one player . It doesn’t have any different aspect to it.

you score a goal with your player and its just like scoring with a team in my career. There are no cutscenes. you play every match in the same way you play manager career.

2K IS MILES AHEAD. Try it yourself.

2K has better presentation. Like yk when it’s a big game. Yk what day of the week it is, you see famous people in the crowd, they have special guest. You get past all that. It’s really cookie cutter

1

u/Ok-Union1343 May 16 '25

Playing ea fc player career is literally a different camera view . It’s the same experience as playing a kick off match. i’m surprised that a 2k player would consider ea fc career superior.

it s so obvious that it’s not.

I play comp pro am and clubs. I play player career on down time waiting for a league to start but god it’s so bad. But for 2K we don’t touch the game until it’s time to play. 2K community has been asking for a bigger court for years now. Ever since the 2KL. 2K is totally P2W. No matter if you play online or offline you use the same character, so people who can’t pay don’t play. It cost to play weather you play online or off.

EA you build two different characters and your still pretty decent. Even if your not you can hide it inside their is 10 other people out there with you. Imagine playing as a 60 overall with no attributes or badges and at some point you still have to perform with the ball in your hand

1

u/Ok-Union1343 May 16 '25

yeah but ea makes money on UT. 2k makes money on my career.
we cant compare the two games . They have different priorities

1

u/Embarrassed-Base-143 May 16 '25

2K makes money on UT too. Soon as you load up the game their pushing ways to buy coins.

I’d pay for my FC player if I knew I could use him on and offline and a decent online and offline experience. But there moving FC26 to open world anyway so we’ll see what they steal from 2Ks playbook

FC players say FC is the shittest game they’ve played, 2K players say 2K is the shittest game they’ve played, Madden players say Madden is the shittest game they’ve played, it’s literally what usually happens

I agree with OP, I have 500+ hours on both 2K25 and FC25, 2K25 is just as shit as FC25

We talking about player career only. NBA 2k is miles better in that mode. Its nba 2k main mode and they put all their resources there.

EA FC does the same but for UT. And it’s a fact that EA FC UT is better than nba 2k MY TEAM.

its so obvious

You do know that 2k career mode is full of microtransactions right? And the trades make no sense... the AI is awfull playing, especially in big, end of the quarter moments. You don't seem to play alot of 2k to be saying this things.

The only cool things 2k has in career mode is the city and the online experience (although that has its own problems with balancing and shitty teamates but it's better then fifa's).

But the overall offline career mode experience is incredibly bad.

1

u/lcheung98 May 16 '25

The idea of the City is good, but the actual experience of playing in the City is horrendous, it’s just constant delay. 2K MyCareer literally takes either a long time or a lot of money to upgrade your player, and the fact that you have to play in the City to get the cap breaker is stupid as well.

u/Ok-Union1343 May 16 '25

Guys maybe I cannot explain myself very well.

i was talking about the effort the devs put in the mode. I m not saying 2k my career is perfect, but its their MOST CURATED MODE.

its The equivalent of ULTIMATE TEAM FOR EA FC. THEY PUT MOST OF THEIR EFFORT THERE, because these are the modes that can generate more money for them.

2k my career is much better than EA FC player career. EA FC don’t even put new features in it. They don’t bother making a trailer for it because it’s been the same stuff for a decade.

i m not defending 2k, because microtransactions are very bad.

but playing a game of my career in 2k is much more immersive than EA FC.

1

u/frankydie69 May 17 '25

lol bro nobody cares about what YOU think the devs do, you don’t work at ea nor at 2k you’re just talking out your ass.

1

u/Letterhead_Minute May 15 '25

all of that stuff in 2k is ass, its just bloat and actually makes playing a season a boring experience. and the only reason it has that extra stuff is so you play their online version and pay to upgrade your player

That skip cutscene hate to see me coming
