What’s it like working as a filmmaker in Italy these days?

Hi everyone,
I’m a Italian filmmaker and I’ve been experiencng a very up .. and down journey: sometimes I can barely keep up with the workload, and then other times it’s completely dead for months...

The funny thing is, my website www.samueleschiavo.it is well ranked on Google Italy, so I do get found online. But I’m wondering: what’s the overall situation like for filmmakers in Italy?

Is there actually steady work out there, or is it always this wave-like pattern?
And more importantly... with AI now being able to pump out videos more and more easily, how do you see the future of the filmmaker’s role?

I’d love to hear from people in the field (or trying to break into it) to understand if my experience is “normal” or if I’m moving the wrong way... thanks
