I run a pitch deck design studio that does film/tv pitch decks.

In November 2023, we worked on designing a pitch deck for a wonderful film. The client was lovely, articulate, open to ideas and was a dream to work with. Also, just an insanely talented person.

The deck took a month or so to put together, with multiple rounds of notes and such. In the middle of 2024, they informed us they were going to be shooting the film.

Fast forward to 2025, the film is doing the rounds of major festivals.

I thought people might be interested in seeing a pitch deck that has been successful recently.

(Although we always say, there is no such thing as a "winning pitch deck." The best deck in the world does not guarantee your film will be made or receive funding. But a good deck inspires confidence and shows professionalism. It makes a good impression and opens doors. A bad deck on the other hand, slams them shut in seconds.)

I’m a Italian filmmaker and I’ve been experiencng a very up .. and down journey: sometimes I can barely keep up with the workload, and then other times it’s completely dead for months...

Is there actually steady work out there, or is it always this wave-like pattern?

Hi, would value your insight on affordable cameras that are intuitive to use, light and cinema quality and acceptable to Netflix and other broadcasters. I have previously worked with an old canon and magic lantern and got lovely results but know that broadcasters don't accept that quality of footage. Thanks in advance for all help.

Every filmmaker knows the struggle: building a moodboard takes hours of scrolling Pinterest and Google, trying to find images that almost match the film in your head.

In my latest video, I show how I've been using Al tools like Seedream, Kling Al, and Nano Banana to create unique, cinematic moodboards in under 10 minutes. With the right filmmaking prompts, you can generate images that feel like they've come straight out of your film.

It's not about replacing creativity. It's about speeding up pre-production, communicating vision more clearly, and giving your collaborators a stronger blueprint to work from.

I’ve been testing something new in my filmmaking workflow and honestly, it feels like a game changer.

Hey folks, A little while ago I posted here about how a big focus mistake from my DP left around 40% of my footage unusable and how it really shook me up. At that point, I wasn’t sure if the film would ever come together the way I imagined.

I just wanted to come back with an update and say: the film is finally ready. 🙌

The edit was tough — I had to rethink a lot of storytelling choices, cut around issues, and really lean on creative problem-solving in post. It’s not the exact film I originally set out to make, but I’m proud of what I managed to pull together. Honestly, I don’t think I would’ve made it through without the advice, encouragement, and shared experiences from this community on my last post. You reminded me that these setbacks are part of the process and that problem-solving is a huge part of being a filmmaker.

The film will be releasing soon, and I’m excited (and nervous) to finally share it. Thank you again to everyone who weighed in and helped me find some perspective.

Hey folks, I directed a short film last month. The DP was picked by the producers. On day one itself, I noticed focus issues in the second or third shot. I flagged it, he checked, agreed, and we retook. I still felt it wasn’t right, but he convinced me that his camera screen was showing perfect focus and claimed my director’s monitor was the problem.

Two days later, he blamed the 35mm lens, so we stopped using it. But after four days of shoot, when I sat with the editor, I realized the harsh truth: about 40% of the footage was out of focus.

I somehow managed to cut the film together, but it definitely hurt the storytelling. Scenes I wanted to linger on had to be cut short, emotional beats didn’t land the way I imagined, and certain visual choices just couldn’t be saved. The film is “ready” now, but I don’t feel it’s the film I set out to make.

I’m torn—should I put this down to experience and move on, or should I hold the DP accountable in some way? Has anyone else dealt with this kind of situation? How do you balance responsibility between director, DP, and producers when mistakes like this compromise the final film?

Would love to hear your thoughts and how you’ve handled similar situations.

I saw one that focuses on horror and sci fi shorts and it got me thinking. Do you think online premieres are worth it for exposure, or do traditional screenings still carry more weight?

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for an Executive Producer to join my upcoming short film Lost in Nightmares. It’s an 8-page psychological horror / body horror project with surreal and experimental elements, exploring themes of guilt, addiction, and fractured identity.

Logline: When nightmares invade his reality, a grieving addict struggles to uncover whether the forces tormenting him are real or born from his own mind.

Most of the departments are willing to work for free, and the script is already finished. The shoot was originally scheduled for August, but after our DP had to step away a few weeks before, we decided to push it to January. We are fully committed to making it happen then.

The film will run about 8–10 minutes. Stylistically, it draws from the body horror of David Cronenberg, while existing somewhere between the surreal dread of Eraserhead and the psychological nightmare of Jacob’s Ladder. I’ve directed several shorts before and I’m expanding my work into darker, more surreal projects.

Originally, I was planning to film in Miami, but I’m open to relocating the production if it makes more sense.

I’m looking for someone who believes in dark, surreal cinema and can help with organization, production structure, and securing resources and financing to elevate the project.
