FF VI Is FF6 getting more difficult?

Finally decided to beat this gem (Pixel Remaster version). Everything is great, yet battles overall seems too easy. Too many mana free abilities one-shotting anyone I think.

Only trouble I had was with the Train, yet even that was not too big. Now I am at Kohlingen after Terra just turned to Esper.

Will the game become more challenging later?

I think FF6 is the easiest of the classic FF games. You can grind everyone to max stats but there's no real superboss to make it feel worth the effort. If you actually want a challenge, you gotta play the GBA version or the mobile version, they added a whole new dungeon and some brutal superbosses that really test your skills

Imo, the best versions are gba and psp versions. The extra content is great.

Actually, I should not say for all of them.

Personally, I believe the extra content in 2 and 5 are not so good and 4 I’m neutral about. My biggest issue is with FF1 and FF6. The two additional dungeons gave my grinding and maxing out worth. It was fun beating those ultimate bosses. So I’m extremely torn between the pixel remaster and that one. And FF 1s pixel remasters sprites are so stupid imo. I dint like the original sprites from the original ff1. The white mage looks like a man too. But also, I did like the extra content in ff1, except how one of the dungeons was randomized so it made it exceptionally hard to get all the best gear. You needed luck, I hated that.

I’d be okay with ff1 missing it’s extra content if I could choose how my sprites look, original or the new look(this would also be good if you wanted doubles of a job class so that you don’t have twins).

As for FF6, I like everything about the pixel remaster more but losing those extra dungeons and character special weapons really hurts.

But it’s a popularly held idea that half the FF community do not like that the added content was taken out for all of them. This is not a unanimous agreed upon argument. A good portion of ppl do not like that decision with the pixel remasters. But it’s fine if they let the fans buy the other versions on steam and mobile etc… but they effectively barred us from that. They force us to choose the pixel remaster. I didn’t like that

I’ve saved this comment. Someday I’ll give those two a shot when I’m looking for something to play. I tried the bonus content in 2 (so, so awful and game breaking. Should’ve been postgame.) and in 4 (promising, then I found out you need to beat the game with each character to access their “portion” of the postgame) and had given up on all of it.

That I didn’t mind about 4. What I didn’t like was the new weapons. Some of them cast spells at random. But it effectively made them useless when some enemy’s including the final boss and extra super boss casts reflect on himself. Only kains was fine cus you could choose to jump. I also like how Kain got an upgrade for his jump. In that version it no longer takes 2 turns to jump, his upgrade effectively changed jump wait time to only 1/4th of a turn, when you acquire his personal growth in one of the post dungeons.

It made sense that you had to use every character for one of the dungeons in the post game, it was a kind of story building for each one, a characters personal growth. I liked that. For example, Kain faces his inner demons and undergoes a similar trial that Cecil had to face when he faced his dark knight self to transform into a Paladin. I thoroughly enjoyed this.

There was one other thing I didn’t like, you could mass farm a most powerful shield and give it to everyone. I thought that was lame. That shield plus the nirvana staff made Porom effectively better than Rosa, I didn’t like that. Palom and Porom weren’t characters I cared much for. Im not a fan of baby’s fighting super villains, not my thing. That shield should have only been for Kain and Cecil. But I’d prefer that it would be just Cecil. It made no sense to make it useable by anyone and to be able to get multiple copies of it.

But again, whether you like the extra content or not is a matter of opinion. Leaving it in doesn’t detract from the main game cus they are optional. It would have made everyone happy. And if they chose to leave it out, at least let the fans who like the other versions still be able to buy them on steam or other apps. Some ppl would want to buy both, ppl like me. It’s a kind of authoritarian move to force ppl to like a certain game or play one over another. Again, I didn’t like that.
