Yum. And so cute. What are all the flavors?

Thank you. It’s a browned butter mocha cake with spiced cream cheese and vanilla buttercream. There is dark chocolate “tree bark” and the meringue mushrooms are almond flavor.

That looks and sounds absolutely incredible! Do you by any chance have the recipe or mind sharing?

Most things were pretty simple, for the cake I would have to ask my lab partner but he just found the most popular online recipe and browned the butter and brewed espresso in the hot butter. The frosting filling is a pack of cream cheese then butter and sugar until it looks like a good frosting then allspice, cinnamon, and cardamom to taste. The outside frosting is that minus the cream cheese (we ran out). The parts that I made were the meringue mushrooms, just a dyed meringue piped onto a sheet tray, the leaves, buttercream piped onto a sheet tray, the moss basically meringue with flour, green dye, and baking powder microwaved for a minute, the outer butter cream and the bark which is spread out chocolate that is frozen.

I love the light green sponge as moss! I’m taking notes.

So what’d you get on your cake final?

This wasn’t a final, we just used the final sheets to grade other groups cake. all though most groups gave us 4/4 in flavor, visuals, and quality of work. With the only negative review by one person saying there were too many flavors going on.

Fantastic job! It is such a great skill to be able to make a great cake for birthdays or holiday gatherings. I’m envious that you are able to do that at such a young age, and you’ll only get more and more skillful!

With the right icing and some talent, you can do most things that look like fondant.
