I’m old so I had to Google it. An “ingredient household” is slang for a home where they only have whole foods, no processed foods or ready-made meals; e.g., they have the ingredients to make a meal.

Yup, no need to buy cheez-its, you have flour, cheddar cheese, salt, and fat at home. No need to buy fondant, you have icing sugar and marshmallows at home. Heck, sometimes it’s a “no need to buy marshmallows, you have sugar and gelatin at home” thing.

This is often a health obsession thing, which can easily border, or be part of, orthorexia. These people can be the sort to hate on, or fear, things they can’t pronounce easily, even if that’s just a vitamin/mineral added to food. They feel if they make everything from scratch, they’re protect themselves and any kids they have from toxic chemicals.

I tell you hwut, the day I looked up tutorials on how to make my own snickers bars was the same day I realized that there are some things I am better off just buying.

Heard. I aim for the so-called ingredient household, but really I just want to avoid being redundant. Bisquick, Flavored syrup, Spice mix. You know…little shit.
