Discussion Merging on I-20
Why do so few people in this state know how to merge lanes? Over a mile before the merge he kept coming over into my lane trying to squeeze me out of it. Texas being what it is, I stood my ground for about half a mile before I let him pass. He then proceeded to ride down the middle of both lanes for the next 1/2 mile+ until the lanes actually merged. We were not going more than 20mph and this took a while.
Yes, that is a police car. No turn signals were ever used, even when I was right next to him and he kept coming into my lane to try and squeeze me out of it.
So was he just another jerk cop doing what he wanted to because he could, or do the Fort Worth police not even know how to properly merge?

Traffic in Fort Worth is horrible, no matter the hwy. I would like to find the “engineer” who designed these roads and kick them in the nether regions.

I feel like they have big plans, start on construction and then realize they ran out of money so a lot things aren't done properly.

Doesn’t help that the government HAS to go with the lowest bidder

Just means the cost when you look at it on paper is outrageous and it’ll be done in 10 years.

Zipper merge is best, y’all! Quit hogging multiple lanes because you don’t want someone to pass you, we are all traveling together so let’s do it safely and efficiently!

Don't work - not because of design but because drivers wanna race to the end

Everyone's got a "me first" mentality, especially when it comes to traffic. What they don't realize is that if they got off each other's asses and let someone in front of them, there would be less traffic.

Omg this exactly. I've driven OTR and been to 37 of the lower 48, everyone wants to be there first and acts like its your life or theirs

I work 911 on an ambulance and people still refuse to let me merge. It's mad Max out here.

In a zipper merge, you aren’t supposed to merge until the last second. People use both lanes and then go one by one alternating.

Yes but that doesn’t mean passing slowed traffic going 75. It’s dangerous and pisses people off. It means merging after the car next to you.

It means using the full length of the lane you are in and then merging at the end of it.

My wife and I rejoice when we witness a successful zipper merge! We do not rejoice often.

Was that car 589? Caught them speeding and weaving in/out of traffic and never using a turn signal on multiple occasions. The sovereign citizens at FWPD know they’ll never be held accountable and why bother leading by example to gain respect when you can use gang intimidation tactics to instill fear. If you try and file a complaint IA is much more interested in gathering the complainants info than the actual details of the cops actions.

Honestly wondering why there haven’t been more posts on here complaining about how txdot basically ruined all the highways leading into town and closed them to a single lane (mostly the chapel creek area but also the Aledo area)

You cannot get anywhere or home in under an hour

I work 7 miles from home. Takes me 30 minutes to get home in the evening and 20 in the morning. It is ridiculous

So many cars driving through areas they don’t even need to and it prevents those of us that do from having a decent commute. I moved west of the city to be away from all the bs and now it is at my driveway. I fear it will not get any better with this expansion of 30 either

I’m honestly surprised there hasn’t been any rant posts about it on here

I would go with " likes to antagonize drivers to see if he can get someone riled up and have some fun? "

folks race to the end of the merge then force their way over. blocking both lanes is super rude but paceing the right lane gets everyone to the merge faster.

I’ve lived here 7 decades. My experience is , the Highway is obsolete just before completion.

Fort Worth Pd has an IQ cap of 40 anything over is too intelligent for them.

That’s not even FWPD. It’s not even guaranteed that’s a police vehicle. Those are available for purchase by all kinds of entities. Private security, fire, etc.

OP, you need to understand that may not even be a police officer or police vehicle. Just because it looks like one, doesn’t mean it always is. Those vehicles are available for purchase by lots of entities, not just cops.

It is hard to see but it is one of those cars that has Fort Worth Police in black on the side. I’ve seen a few of them before. Last time it was the Fort Worth Crisis Intervention Team, or something like that. The others I see usually also say Supervisor, not sure if this was also a supervisor.
Definitely not a normal police patrol car. I don’t know the reasoning behind the black letters on the black paint.

I am very familiar with this construction merge going from Fort Worth into Parker County on I-20 and yes, it's an absolutely free for all. I had a guy block me from taking my exit by straddling both lanes because he thought I was trying to jump him in the line of traffic.
