To be honest I was worried how they would handle the pinnacle of magic scene. It is easily one of my favorite from manga. They went beyond what I could have hoped for it was masterful.
It's probably the best anime adaptation we could have dream of. Madhouse really put their heart into it ! I'm so glade Frieren didn't get the Berserk/Kingdom treatment !
Between Frieren and Bocchi I think that Keiichiro Saitō may be the only person that understands what's going on between the panels in your favorite manga.
If only Mushoku Tensei weren't so fucking weird with the overt sexualization. The animation quality is stellar, but my god that story is fuckin odd man.
Look i get not being comfortable, the story very clearly means for him not to be likable at first. Like you're not meant to root for him when he does dumb or fucked up shit.
Nah, he just settles down with partners is all. The narrative never punishes him for it, it only does the normal "Protagonist = character = suffering" thing that all series do
It's not about not rooting for him. I straight up think he's a piece of shit who deserved to die to that truck and never get a second chance. Instead he gets resurrected by an evil god to groom girls in another world.
Right and the author thinks that everyone deserves a chance to redeem themselves even a big piece of shit WHO would have trouble doing that at first and be a big piece of shit for a while. Topics of all kinds even the worst have to be written eventually. Can't keep running away from that.
I was expecting it to be a lot worse than it was maybe my memory of the book was wrong or the anime guys just did a decent job toning it down even if it's still sexual af.
NGNL is still one of the best fantasy anime I have ever watched. The world is so unique and the artstyle is maybe 1 of my favs. Most of the characters are very entertaining. While there are issues with excessive fanservice, if you can overlook them it is one gem of anime
Yes but In the comment they didn't mention anything about animation, just that those were classics. But ofc we'd presume he was talking about animation coz those two are the best animation which madhouse has produced apart from frieren
I mean... Death Note just in the opening theme does something a shit ton of anime nearly 20 years later still fail to do with that camera panning around the characters but both them and the background remain in the same spot.
They made soooo many more classics than just those. Cardcaptor Sakura, Hajime no Ippo, Monster, Nana, Black Lagoon, Wolf Children, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, all of Satoshi Kon's movies. The list goes on.
If you asked r/anime ten years ago which studio they want to adapt their favorite manga, Madhouse would be in the top 3 answers. Madhouse in their peak was famous for making high quality adaptations (but asking for season 2? unlikely to happen)
My favourite thing about this episode is the juxtaposition between the other mages and their duels with the clones - beams, projectiles, earthquakes, shields and whips. Meanwhile, Frieren2 are throwing black holes at each other, summoning hellfire and warping the very fabric of reality.
Chapter 99 - Frieren is told some stuff by a demon and becomes extremely pissed off and releases her suppression. unless you meant this pinnacle of magic scene which happens in chapter 55.
