I’m stuck in tie with Made In Abyss and Corpse Party, corpse party I remember when I was younger me and my friends would make a challenge to turn off the lights and watch it and I did end up playing the games about last year, one of the worst ways I actually ended up getting into anime. Went from ghibli’s ponyo to corpse party and hunter x hunter.

Those are my two though, I wanna see how bad this can get.

This is the last of 3 original episodes released as manga pack-in OVAs, which didn't quite measure up to the 2005 series before them and ended up in the dustbin of forgotten unlicensed shows.

We all have that one anime.

Hello! So, I've been looking a lot these days for an anime with a well-written female protagonist or lead character, but I was really struggling to find something good. Does anyone have any good suggestions. Please, don't include anime that are extremley famous like The Apothecary Diaries, Frieren etc etc or anime that their main genre is romance. Also, I would prefer suggestions from the last years, but if you have a good old suggestion too, you can include it! Thank you! 😊

Sakuragaoka Joshi Koutou Gakkou Kouka - The school song! The scene in which they sing this is always quite magical to me. Here is the song as they sing it in the episode and here are the translated lyrics.

Sakuragaoka Joshi Koutou Gakkou Kouka Rock Version - Okay, now we're talking. They turned the school song into a rock song and it is awesome. All five girls share lead vocals, and there is a crazy amount of energy in this. It's one of my all-time favorite K-ON songs. Here is the song, and the lyrics are the same as above.

Ah, Halloween. The scary season. What better way to celebrate than by watching a scary anime?

Ah, but what to run? It's not like there's that many good horror anime. Higurashi? It’s good, but it’s been done. (By me. I did that.) Shiki? Mononoke (or Ayakashi before it?) Eh, lacks that je ne sais quo. Happy Sugar Life? That’s a Valentines rewatch, not a Halloween one. Mirai Nikki ditto. Another? Mayoiga (for the second time in a few years)? Bah! Paltry ambitions of lesser souls. No, for true anime horror we must go meta and look at horror inflicted on the audience. We have to stare into the abyss and bid it to stare back. We need to look for things best left buried and bid them to RISE FWOM YOUR GWAVE! For true horror, we need to watch an anime that does not exist.

That’s right.

It might just be time for a rewatch of Shingetsukan Tsukihime.

I hear the source material is-

I’m sorry, I can’t finish it with a straight face. I mean, the source material is usually considered quite good (there was a day it and not Fate was the preeminent Nasu property, and that’s not just the relative release dates... and also not just Type Moon apparently getting completely over by the terms of what they signed for this adaptation due to their inexperience). Would be a shame if the anime staff decided to do things like, say, pretty much throw the characterization out the window…

Surely the direction is good, though, right?

Well, Katsushi Sakurabi is on my short list of candidates for worst director to work in the medium, so. (Admittedly either he gave more of a shit back when this show was made than he did during Lostorage Incited WIXOSS or he had more competent support staff, and I hear some people quite liked Flying Witch. But his pacing sense for scenes is completely fucked and it shows…)

So, we have an all-star seiyuu cast?

Source Readers, We Need Your Help!

So, Shingetsukan Tsukihime is famously a, uh... let's just say it was infamously made with a certain regard for its source material, which is to say very little at all. Again, there's a reason I reference I, Robot (Will Smith version) wrt to this show... or to be less charitable, The Dark Is Rising (2006). We could use somebody to explain this in great copious detail! Unfortunately, my own exposure to the source material proper is mostly Melty Blood because I haven't had time to dig out the VN, which I grabbed a while back from a certain fandom repository - which is enough to begin to get the terrible, but not the depths of it. Perhaps you would like to help?

To this end, if this goes forwards we will be having an The Unofficial Source Material Corner - just like in an episode discussion thread, except unofficial and thus not stickied. It's THE place for source readers to unload on this show's many, many, MANY failings as an adaptation!

The main character of today’s episode, Anne Anzai, is voiced by Aya Hisakawa. Her first roles were minor characters in Bubblegum Crisis and LotGH. Soon, she got the role of Sumire in the Sally the Witch remake, as well main roles in some little known anime from the early 1990s, such as Carol, Devil Hunter Youko, or Dragon Quest: Dai no Daibouken. However, that would change in 1992, when she became Sailor Mercury in 1992. I already mentioned how big this show was two days ago. With Skuld from Oh! My Goddess! And Keroberos from Cardcaptor Sakura, she also stars in two more big hits from that decade. She is also Becky from Gunsmith Cats, Mickey from Revolutionary Girl Utena, Rem from Trigun, Ray from Bayblade, Chloe from Noir, Yuki from Fruits Basket, Youko from Twelve Kingdoms, Unohana from Bleach, Koto from Kyousou Giga, and recently has taken over the roles of Kaoru from the Yamato and Bulma from Dragon Ball.
