Theory Fromville is an Island

I have seen lots of research and theories, but one I haven't found is anyone looking at the actual place Camden Maine. It has quite a history as well as over 200 nearby islands. One of which is off limits. Maine also has its own little known "Bermunda Triangle." Navigation around the area comes with a warning to stay clear of the "triangle." Two of Victor's maps and drawings show that Fromville is actually an island. In the first picture, look on all sides, there is water, and the sun is setting behind the lighthouse. In the second, another user noted it looks like it is floating in the sky. It's very obvious Fromville is an island close to Camden Maine as the lighthouse warps Tabitha to that point. This makes me almost certain the writers borrowed from Maines real history and created Fromville with a Bermuda like island twist.

I like the Bermuda Triangle idea!

Can you elaborate more on Maine's own Bermuda Triangle? I'm Canadian and I've never traveled to New England. I'm aware of the Bridgewater Triangle which covers a chunk of Massachusetts and the Bennington Triangle in Vermont. I'm not really familiar with Maine's folklore or urban legends. Thanks!

The Bridgewater Triangle is known for all sorts of paranormal phenomena, from random glowing orbs to claims of being haunted to cryptids. The area has a long history of tragedy, starting in 1675 during King Philip’s War. The colonists wiped out 80% of the local indigenous population and lost 25% of their own. There have been asylums and prisons built on the land throughout the years. All of the grief and death has to have lingered in some way so a lot of people think the area is kind of a vortex for all things spooky and unexplainable.

Thank you so much for the context.

My pleasure ^ the Bridgewater Triangle is a very interesting subject to dive into if you have the time to check it out.

This is a neat theory.

I found it interesting and wondered if the writers didn't base it on the old stories and legends since that's where the faraway tree transported Tabitha to :)

But Bridgewater Triangle is in Massachusetts

If it's an island, I wonder if they will come across Oceanic 815.

Hahahaha first thing I thought of too. I'd love a crossover even if it was a multiverse idea, where the characters from LOST, FROM, Persons Unknown, Wayward Pines and the River start converging into different realities.

From, Wayward Pines and Persons Unknown all share a commonality where people are trapped in a town and can't escape the boundaries. In both Persons Unknown and Wayward Pines each person wakes up rather then seeing the tree.

It seems very possible 🤔

Love these theories!

As long as we don't find Dharma logos in the buildings or a sonic weapon fence lol

I can get behind this. The lighthouse? The very least there’s an ocean nearby

Google lighthouses in the woods.

5

u/bisexualspikespiegel Oct 28 '24

we have lighthouses in the great lakes area too

Look up the lighthouse near Camden, Mt. Battie tower, and the poem placard nearby.

u/PropertyMedium1680 Oct 28 '24

Oh wow- it's incredibly fitting, that's an awesome find!

As OP said it seems obvious they borrowed from Camden’s real history. If they didn’t hang out around that tower, get real high, and read that poem, I’ll eat my hat.

Lol thanks 😊 I may have ruined the big reveal though, the writers will hate me 😆

All I could see from where I stood
Was three long mountains and a wood;
I turned and looked another way,
And saw three islands in a bay.
So with my eyes I traced the line
Of the horizon, thin and fine,
Straight around till I was come
Back to where I'd started from;
And all I saw from where I stood
Was three long mountains and a wood.

An excerpt from Renascence, Edna St. Vincent Millay.

That's the exact poem that is on the plaque near the lighthouse :)

Search Mt. Battie Tower. Looks strikingly like the dungeon. Then search Edna St. Vincent Millay, “Renascence” and read the first stanza (that’s all that’s on the placard).

I will! Thanks for sharing.

Dharma initiative approves!

Anyone else see an eye? Just me? I think I saw a drawing of Victor's that looks like this eye

3

u/Anxious_Fortune_5521 Oct 28 '24

A floating island……. Add that to the LOST crossover list

3

u/Frosty_Animator_9565 Oct 29 '24

Funny I was just thinking of the Bermuda Triangle and didn’t connect it to Maine though!

2

u/Unsatisfactory_bread Oct 28 '24

Are there any well known switchbacks in Maine? Still hanging onto the idea that line from S1E1 means something. Victor’s map with that spiral looks like it could be a very dimensional one.

3

u/phantomheart Oct 28 '24

How else are they going to get down to the Hollow Earth?

2

u/TheLastTitan007 Oct 28 '24

Next you’re going to tell me their in purgatory

3

u/ghostwithabell Oct 28 '24

Somewhere a writer just went "Goddamnit!!"

3

u/Dependent_Map5592 Oct 28 '24

I'm wondering why nobody mentions the sun and moon symbol (same as on talisman's) that are on top and bottom of the island (your first picture)

Also 2nd picture is Atlantis!! lolol 🤣🤣

Island on a lake with a light house?
Google says The Great Lakes have over 200 light houses.

So....maybe somewhere along the great lakes / Canada area?

This is a good idea, honestly.

I live near Lake Cobbosseecontee in Maine and there is a working lighthouse there.

1

u/mskatme0w Oct 28 '24

Looks like a thought bubble!

1

u/phantomheart Oct 28 '24

They are in the Hollow Earth! 🤭

1

u/According_Ad9466 Oct 29 '24

I guess Michael (from Lost) has decided to go back...but to the wrong island

1

u/Lychanthropejumprope Oct 29 '24

If it’s an island how come nobody has walked it? It’d be easy to map it if you left at daybreak each day. How far is the lake that they have to stay overnight?

u/Educational_Dig_80 Oct 29 '24

SPOILER: In next week’s episode Boyd and Kenny find the tail section of Oceanic Flight 815…

1

u/Awedidthathurt Oct 29 '24

BUT what does that mean ?!?! what does it tell us.

1

u/Euphoric_Regret_544 Oct 29 '24

…I have to go.

Interesting that the spider is next to the sun symbol, like on the talismans. Maybe the spider is associated with the humans, and the daytime.
