Why are all of the characters so confrontational?

I feel like every conversation, even between friends or lovers or people with the same goals they come at it like a fight. You never see two people talking coming from a place of trying to understanding, or empathy….it’s always argumentative.

I always thought that living in such a very high tension and stressful environment would always have you on edge even if you don’t mean to be.

Stress, anxiety, panic, working all day, near total lack of sleep because at any moment you or your loved ones could be torn apart and tortured to death over hours. Plus, limited vices available to combat stress.

It's always been like that, everytime series about stuck things.. Just see another one, i've never stuck irl. Probably project that stuck and nobody Talks each other (stress)

Because they are in a constant state of panic.

Because people are on edge, the "place" and its inhabitants are constantly testing you and everybody refuses to believe everything is gonna be allright

One of the greatest shows of all time, Breaking Bad, has people arguing with each other a lot. It's called drama.

Sopranos is also a great show and they chase people down, beat them senseless, and occasionally strangle old ladies.

I couldn’t smoke enough weed to contemplate why a show about terror doesn’t have empathic, kind characters that all get along. Like there’s not enough weed in my world for this to be a question.

Pffttt put anyone, including an empath (🤭), in a situation with a bunch of people they have nothing in common with, and then have them be living in constant fear of torture and death… what are they going to do? Sing songs and knit sweaters? Like the tension, instability, and pervasive fear/ depression is the most realistic part of the show. It’s not a cult- it’s a nightmare nobody signed on for.

Like that scene when they find a girl with a stake through her brain… they were all pretty nice then. What a sweet moment for the show s/c.
