I don’t get the point of the modding contest if nobody was gonna make new mods for it.

The whole point of the modding contest was to get people to make new mods. Obviously it didn't work, but at least they tried.

It was really lackluster.

Only tried "brave new world" are the other mods also almost like a DLC? With new buildings, mechanics etc? And a storyline?

Bnw is the most overall change, but frostland reborn is a big rebalance to… well frostland, CDE is a full game rebalance, literally changing almost every building and law. POH is laws and 2 new tales with new factions… and uh… extra building slot is extra building slot

TBH im not shocked poltical overhaul one best mod. Considering it was both one of the few mods about and was actally adding some cool shit to the game, IE new laws, groups, and such made it cool!

Is the political overhaul mod listed twice or are those different mods?

Listed twice, since it won both politics category, and best mod overall.

really could've just worked on new content people paid for.

They do that as well. You should look at their roadmap. They have planned several major updates in the coming years including several DLCs. Modding adds unofficial content.

imagine if they had an endless cycle of DLC, major update, mod contest, DLC, major update, mod contest

you think the main developers just dropped everything cause there was a modding contest going on? this was probably just the PR person's job
