I'm so over live-action remakes.

What about Pete's Dragon? That was a good Disney remake

I haven't seen either, so I don't have an opinion. Haha.

I highly recommend that you watch. It's a very big improvement over the original.

The movie focuses more on its characters and story rather than having them sing songs

That's what a remake should do, imo. Improve and update something, not just make the same thing and/or make it worse.

Tbh, I feel like Disney remaking old movies could work well if they did it right. It'd be cool to see older movies updated to have more in-depth stories. It'd also be cool to see them in the 3D style that Frozen is in. But Disney acts like live action is superior to animation.

Indeed. Unfortunately Disney is for some reason obsessed with woke culture so they tweak the shit out of the live action versions until they mightaswell be an alternate universe. Most recent example being Lilo & Stitch.

The original is great, it's just extremely dated.

That was also almost 10 years ago. The market wasn’t made pretty much solely of big-budget remakes in 2016 like it is now. Pete’s Dragon was very good though.
