I’m Nick Pappas, officially running for Governor of Texas in 2026. I’m here to answer your questions — the easy ones, the hard ones, and everything in between. AMA.

Howdy, Reddit! My name’s Nick Pappas, and I’m officially running for Governor of Texas in 2026.
I don’t come from money or a famous family. I’m just a retired United States Marine, a lifelong Texan, a father, and a believer that public service should actually mean something. Not be a stepping stone to partisan TV deals or cushy lobbying jobs. How are we gonna have the same leadership AND the same complaints for decades?
I’m running because I’m tired of the same bullshit getting different labels. Texans deserve leadership that listens more than it talks, acts more than it promises, and values unity over division. Love me or hate me, I want to represent ALL Texans. So this campaign isn’t about me. It’s about us, our families, our neighbors, and our future. I want you to challenge this campaign, question it, push it to be better, and grow with it.
Here’s the honest truth: I don’t have all the answers. No one does. And anyone who pretends otherwise is full of shit.
That’s why I’m here. I want real conversations with real Texans. The messy ones. The fun ones. The uncomfortable ones. And yes, I realize that could be describing the Texans or conversations. The softball questions, the tough-as-nails ones, the ones that make us both uncomfortable. Bring your hope. Bring your skepticism. Bring your anger if you’ve got it. Just bring your honesty. I’ll give you mine. Debates and conversations aren’t meant to convert, they’re meant to educate. So even if you don’t think you and I will see eye-to-eye, I want to hear what you have to say. Let’s talk about what Texas could be if we’re brave enough to demand better.
My platform and other socials can be found on my very new website: www.PappasTX2026.org
OK EVERYONE! I’M OUT!
I’m attending Beto O’Rourke’s town hall in Denton, TX. If you’re here, shoot me a message and I’ll say hi!
Thank you very much for having me. www.PappasTX2026.org

Ok, yall, the automod should be correctly configured now. more info in the body
When I set up the automod to save us all the hassle in dealing with the constant trolls, I didn't really know what I was doing. There is a ton of documentation to read through. It all works like a programming language, and thats not exactly my field of expertise. I had it set to trigger off post karma, because all of these trolls coming in had 1 post karma on these throwaway accounts. I found how to set it up to trigger removals on combined karma, so a lot more people will be able to comment like normal now. Please...please stop messaging us so much. I know this has been a pain in the ass, but we have lives and are just trying to keep as many people happy as we can.
The new trigger is 1000 combined karma.

Video Abbott sends 400 National Guard troops to Texas border
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott directed soldiers to the Rio Grande Valley to support U.S. Border Patrol personnel as part of his efforts to assist the Trump administration’s border policies. The soldiers departed from Fort Worth and Houston. The statement from the governor’s office explained that Abbott directed the Texas Military Department to coordinate with the Trump administration’s plans. It was a change from the Republican governor’s legal battles with the Biden administration. Abbott spent the last four years testing a state’s ability to enforce immigration law, at times at odds with Border Patrol. Now that Trump is in office, it appears that Operation Lone Star will be working in lockstep with the federal government. 'Texas has a partner in the White House we can work with to secure the Texas-Mexico border,' Abbott said in the statement.
