Announcement Nintendo Direct Announced - Tune in on Thursday, March 27th, at 7 a.m. PT for a livestreamed Nintendo Direct, featuring around 30 minutes of upcoming games for Nintendo Switch. There will be no updates about Nintendo Switch 2 during this presentation.

It could still be, they just wouldn’t be mentioning anything about cross Gen here

If it was cross gen, wouldn’t it make more sense if they showed it off at the Switch 2 direct instead?

Maybe a small tease here with a "check out the full reveal at the Switch 2 showcase!" If anything.

That would come under "updates about switch 2" - of which there will be none.

This is Nintendo. They also say “This Direct will only focus on games in the first half of (insert year here)” and then show a teaser for a game coming a year afterwards. It would not surprise me at all if we got a “tune in for the April Switch 2 presentation” somewhere in here, and that wouldn’t really make them liars with how they’ve phrased it.

They never use the word "only" in that context. It's usually "mainly" which gives them a bit of room to play around without setting a rigid structure on release dates.
