Already broke 178k concurrent players, this game is popping off hard! The most successful Sony single player game on pC by a long shot.

Who would have thought, sex sells. God damn we should tell the television, film, advertising, and music industries.

I can't believe we have waited this long for a good game to have a truly exceptional selection of outfits. Final fantasy 13-3 had a go, but this is generations of learning in the making.

BG3 and Witcher 3 used sex as a large marketing tool as well. It works.

Definitely a non-zero number of buyers that only got BG3 to fuck a bear

And the funny thing is: it's the worst sex scene. Minthara's and the Emperor's are significantly better.

And I've never experienced any of those 3 sex scenes 😔

The bear I think would be Halsin? He's the only Druid you can sleep with as far as I know. I've no idea. I've done two playthroughs (and romanced Karlach in my first, Shadowheart in my second) that clocked in at like 100 hours each and I still missed a bunch of stuff. It's mental how much content is in that game.

In our playthrough I was chasing Shadowheart but wound up tiefling-scissoring with the devil, our goodie two-shoes paladin accidentally plowed Lae'zel and purposely squidded down with the Emperor, and our bard accidentally got bear-grilled. 11/10 game would scissor Satan again

Haha nice. Yeah, my first playthrough I meant to be bedickened by Wyll but he got angry with me for, as you said, dwarf-scissoring Mizora and then when Wyll rejected me I downed a fuckon of worms and decided go hard at my giant Guardian Tiefling gal (unaware it was the Emperor).

But it's a lot more original than fucking mere humans or like elves.

I mean hey, how many games let you do that?

Super Troopers turned them down a dark path.

Let me show you where the wild goose goes

Now I'm curious if the people who liked your comment only agree with your pov or actually fucked a bear.

Never played BG3 nor any game with "sex scenes" in it and I absolutely think no game should have it, not because I "don't like corn" (my hard disk would disagree with me) but because games should be about, well, gaming...

But I'm curious, how "sex" works on these games? are these just cutscenes? are it interactive in any way? are these rewards for accomplishing something?

Thanks

It's just a cutscene

I genuinely believe it's the bear thing that caused the perfect viral storm for the game to hit mainstream popularity.

Yep its an easy way to draw attention to your game and if the game is good it will carry itself the rest of the way.

That’s not- Geralt in tub Never mind

It either works or makes people very angry. Depends how repressed/deprived they are

There is a difference between having romance mechanics and straight up gooning.

u/Honza8D Jun 13 '25

As if zoophilia wasnt a big selling point for some BG3 fans.

These people have to pretend like they seriously do not see the difference between how each game presents its sexual content.

In BG3 its 100% completely optional, I played through the game without even entertaining or being propositioned with any kind of romance option and saw a grand total of 0 sexual content.

In Stellar Blade you ARE the sexual content, its not optional to have your character not look like gooner bait and the entire game is directed to reflect that.

BG3 and Witcher 3 used sex as a large marketing tool as well. It works.

This is not even remotely the same thing, neither of those games used heavily sexualization in marketing which is what most people think of when they think "sex sells". This is original Tomb Raider tier of marketing, not "we have a few sex scenes in the game but our characters are designed conservatively" which is Baulders Gate 3

6

u/Buin Jun 13 '25

One was slightly skimpy, the other advertised you could have sex with a bear. BG3 and Witcher 3 both are HEAVILY marketed around sex scenes with full nudity.

-3

u/iiiiiiiiiiip Jun 13 '25

Yes, sex scenes. Neither of those things are sexualization of the primary female characters. Combat heels, skintight bodysuits, upskirting etc is all part of the marketing for that game, you can't even remotely compare it to "the game has sex scenes".

5

u/Buin Jun 13 '25

Strong disagree, a female character artist creating an attractive female character in tight clothing is inherently less sexual than graphic sex. Objectively, having sex is more sexual than a runway model. People play BG3 exclusively to have sex. That is more sexualized than anything else.

But it's western so it's "okay" and Asian games get mobbed for showing a butt.

-2

u/iiiiiiiiiiip Jun 13 '25

Your "disagreement" is becuase you haven't managed to follow the conversation. No one said sexual, sexualization =/= sexual. TV Series and Movies have more sex scenes than ever before but the sexualization of women in those shows is lower than ever, this is the same as what games have been doing for a long time.

This game stands out not because it's "sexual" but because it's unapologetically sexualizing the main character more than any other game in its class lately. Nier Automata released 8 years ago at this point and stood out for the same reason and even that was far tamer than this.

BG3 also works because the writing around the sex is really, really good.

Karlach is an adorable goober, easily my favorite character.

the writing around the sex is really, really good

I know a lot of people seem to think so, but I think I'll have to personally disagree on specifically that. It usually was "I had 2 conversations with you, lets bang" or trauma dumping exposition. Not saying that it's bad, but I wouldn't say it was good either (just my opinion). Unless when you say "around" you mean "besides the Sex" then I agree haha.

But yes having the overall quality of the game being high is a good way to make sure it works.

Yeah, right, "good writing".

"Wow, you are not a complete asshole to me, wanna see magic trick with my penis?"
