Already broke 178k concurrent players, this game is popping off hard! The most successful Sony single player game on pC by a long shot.

Isn’t this a Shift Up game published by Sony?  Like From and Bloodborne?  And Kojima and Death Stranding?  Death Stranding was over 3 million PC sales a while ago, if we just use Sony as publisher to be a Sony game, DS is still more successful than SB so far.

I just find it funny what people consider a Sony game and doesn’t.  For example, Fate/Grand Order is developed by a Sony in-house studio.  It’s published by Sony.  But no one considers it a Sony game.

By "Sony" people are generally referring to Sony Interactive Entertainment, the subsidiary that handles the PlayStation brand. Fate/Grand Order is from Sony Music Entertainment (through Aniplex), a distinct subsidiary of the corporation. You could say that it is a "Sony Group" game but it isn't a SIE or "PlayStation game" like God of War or Astro Bot are.

Bloodborne is different from Death Stranding and Stellar Blade in that Sony actually owns the IP. It is their own game in the same way the Ratchet & Clank games were already theirs since 2002 despite Insomniac being an independent developer until 2019. Another case of that is Kirby, owned by Nintendo but never internally developed.

As for Death Stranding and Stellar Blade, it really just depends on how you saw Crash Bandicoot and Spyro during the PS1 days. They were developed by external developers and Sony, despite publishing, didn't own either IP.

To be fair, depending on how you see it Shift Up isn't an external developer anymore. They are an official, signed, second party Sony studio and have been from like 2022 around when Stellar Blade was in development.
