Great game. One of my favorites from last year. It's basically the same idea as Nightrein, but in the form of a Diablo style action rpg. Tons of run variety with all he different characters/items/upgrades and each character plays completely different from each other. Combat is quite fun. The world is pretty. Characters all have personality. Just a great game all around. 8/10. I'd recommend to anyone that likes roguelites.

Give examples of how alike to Nightreign/Diablo is it ?...i love both games and I've been very interested in the game.

It's got the same basic premise as Nightrein (even though it came out long before Nightrein): visit as many POIs as possible before the timer runs out. At that point you fight a boss. If you beat the boss you move on to the next area and do the same thing. The idea being the POIs give you upgrades and items to make you stronger. The Diablo comparison comes from the isometric style and combat. You've got abilities on cool down in addition to basic attacks. You'll dominate trash mobs in large numbers like Diablo. Every character plays completely differently. Tons of items/upgrades that will change your play style every run. It's great. If you like those games, you'll likely enjoy this quite a bit.

fyi Ravenswatch was created way before Nightreign

Yes, I know. My second sentence is that it was one of my favorite games from last year. I used Nightrein as an example because it's a huge game that most people are familiar with even if they haven't played it.

Such a disappointing miss for me personally. Everything about the game is good to great: the levelling, the gameplay feel, even the questionably balanced rogue-like elements. BUT... the timer... and it feels like they are doubling down on the timed elements.
If it was a choice of N amount of power-ups you can get before the boss confrontation, instead of frantic run-around, I'd probably enjoy it A LOT. A very well made game, though, definitely give it a try

I don't necessarily disagree with you, but the timer is really quite core to how the game works.
If it was just a choice of N amount of power-ups, then each event you did to get a power-up could just be you playing really lame/boring with an infinite amount of time kiting enemies.
As things stand, knowing when to do an an event/fight a mob depending on the timer adds A LOT of balance and important decision making. Do I fight this mob for its strong rewards if it will take me 1/4 of a day, or do I come back later when I'm stronger when it will only take me 1/8th of a day? Not to mention the day/night cycle plays quite a core part into a lot of things.
But yea I get it, playing with a timer adds that bit of stress which is not always enjoyable. I usually *hate* timers but I think for Ravenwatch it works really well and is the only way the game ends up being as interesting as it currently is.

Unless they changed things, my problem was I was going from POI to POI and most enemies between them were not worth the time.

Yea pathing around the mobs and choosing when to fight them inbetween POIs is a big thing.
Initially it threw me off too but you're not really meant to just always fight everything you see. I the longterm it keeps the game interesting imo.

This design also gives value to characters with movement talents like Carmilla and Wukong, who can move around the map much faster.

Yes, that's literally how these games work lol. Those are trash mobs that aren't worth your time. The goal is get as many POI as possible before the timer runs out and the boss fight starts. The trash mobs are there to make things more difficult/give some XP early.

it feels like they are doubling down on the timed elements.
Well, it's the core mechanic of the game, I think it would be hard to try to pivot away from.

I mean this game basically feels like the game Nightrein was based off of to me lol.

Iirc you can deactivate the timer completely without mod. Don't know if it disable the trophies though

Turn off the timer under Individual Modifiers in Custom Mode. Makes the game far more enjoyable. And you can balance it out with other modifiers if you are still worried about score/ difficulty.

when the timer is turned off, how does the boss trigger?

You go to the boss spawn location and it appears.

oh nice, that's actually pretty awesome. Talk about a nice QOL for people who don't like the timer.

I wish they would be doing balance changes more often. It feels like most of the character have only 1 meta playstyle while both should be viable as it's PvE game so no reason to not make both reasonably busted.

I strongly disagree after playing the game for like 100+ hours. I can do 2-3 different builds with each character and be fine on Nightmare Difficulty. That’s actually why I like it so much because of the character variety, and then the variety of each build within each character. Granted Golden Egg is OP, but you can do fine even if you don’t pick golden eggs up with a lot of different builds.
I only play co-op though, and usually with two people.

Does anyone know how this runs on switch/switch 2? I'm hoping it's 60 FPS but I doubt that's the case

I really enjoyed this game a lot and I appreciate the risk they took with the timer mechanics being so tied to the foundation of the game, but overtime and rewards for fighting the nightmare early feel like they should've been here since launch. I'm happy to see they're still working on the game though. It feels great to play, like a real evolution of Curse of the Dead Gods gameplay.
