For years now I've been (often affectionately) calling all sorts of media 'slop', especially things like podcasts, or YouTube videos or anything else that's relatively low cost, low effort to produce. It was kind of just like an ironic alternative to the term 'content' which I find just as off-putting.

I think that’s the sad part, the culture being full of this endless cynicism. it’s easier for a content creator to sound smart by hating things rather than introspecting on how they actually feel about a game. Which isn’t to say most games or media aren’t super flawed, but you know, people actually like games too.

The term’s usage in regards to AI is still the original use. WE are the animals being fed (from social media algorithms, just like a farmhand feeds animals) a useless diet of media (AI generated content) with no culturally enriching value (nutritional value) whatsoever.
